Jillian + Round 4 with Snow = Getting ready to call uncle

Monday, February 11, 2013

Ok, I went back out for round 3 last night. Yes, the City came and blocked the driveway again. This morning I woke up and checked, it driveway is still clear, sweet. I head downstairs, warrior gear on and on to week 4 of Jillian's Ripped in 30. She kicked my butt proper!

All of a sudden, I hear the horrible rumble of the plow, oh no! I braced myself and peeked out. Dang it! The driveway is blocked again! Did I forget to mention that we had freezing rain this morning? Well, we did. So the snow is now wet and compacted by the plow. I wearily put on my hoodie, waterproof jacket and boots and headed out with my trusty shovel and ice scraper. The pile wasn't as big as those yesterday, however, it was much heavier and harder to move. An hour and 800 calories later, I'm done.

I stand there to survey my handiwork, thinking, well at least I got a good workout out of all this. To my chagrin, I see the plow heading back down my street. I stood there, daring them to push it back into my driveway. The driver took pity on me and actually swept it away from my driveway. I'm paranoid now, I think they're lulling me into a false sense of security then as soon as I get back in the house, they'll be back to block it again.

Wow. Your battle with the snow is amazing. I hope you don't have to keep at it for too much longer.

That is definitely discouraging - but I am happy for all of the calories you burned!

Sounds like a conspiracy to keep you holed-up at home! I Wonder if the plow drivers get together to laugh about how many people the plowed in?

At least snow shoveling is a hearty workout, I hope you switch from right hand dominant to left hand dominant shoveling as to properly work both sides of the body!

I've had the same. And once, like you, I was leaning wearily on my shovel and watching in anticipatated agony as the plow approached. And he took pity and swooped around.
Yeah, it DOES offer good cardio and arm-strengthening. That's ONE mitigating aspect of snow.
Blessings to you on your way to a healthy lifestyle, whatever weather you encounter!
