interesting things about Vinegar

Monday, February 11, 2013

I found these things on line about vinegar.....I did not know it was for more than my salad...lol

1. Insect bites or stings will be soothed quickly by pouring vinegar on it.
2. Pour vinegar on sunburn
3. If you drink a teaspoon or so of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water to help with digestion, bowel function, cholesterol, and even preventing ulcers. With the latter you might have to help a little with the stress of course.
4. Salicylic acid is what you use on warts. Vinegar is acetic acid and works in the same way, however more gently.
5. Just 5% of vinegar mixed in a solution of your choice, can kill 99% of bacteria, 82% of mold, 80% of germs (viruses).
6. A teaspoon or two of vinegar will cure hiccups.
7. Two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and honey mixed with enough hot water to melt the honey has been known to help with headaches and weight loss.
8. Bathing in some apple cider vinegar can help with urinary tract infections. I read someone who didn't have a bath tub, used a used cotton ball with apple cider vinegar and swabbed the urethra and it took care of the problem .
9. Apple cider vinegar has helped skin conditions from eczema to aging brown spots.
10. Apple cider vinegar helps fight against food cravings

I don't know if any of this is true but I just thought it was interesting.....I am easily interested as you can see....

have a healthy day .....

When I was in my thirties I was always getting bad sunburns. I'd put apple cider vinegar on them and usually even the worst sunburns wouldn't peel.

I also liked rinsing my hair with a bit of ACV in water, and it made my hair clean of all leftover shampoo, and my hair was smoothe and silky.

Then I started drinking it in water - and felt ill all the time. It turns out it is high in salycitates (the same thing as aspirin), and I'm allergic to aspirin. So, I've stopped using it (as well as foods that are high in salycitates) and am feeling SO much better.

Sure wish I could use ACV though. It does wonders for many things for many people.

I believe the power of apple cider vineger. And try to drink a teaspoon or two mixed with water every morning. Also in my smoothie. And salad. I use organic brrags apple cider vinegar. I also killed warts in my foot mixed with Flour bandaged all nt. it was a decade ago, but it worked. I think it works with weight loss too. And there're many more benefit. In my house hold it is a must have item.

I've always recommended white vinegar for a sun burn, and it works.

When I put the mop over my floors I use white vinegar with warm water and they look great.

thanks for posting these.

I use white vinegar as a 'natural' cleaner for my tea kettle and coffee maker. I put equal amounts of water and vinegar (can use a bit less vinegar) in kettle, boil it, let it sit, rinse with clear water then boil clear water and throw that out. Beautifully clean kettle.
With coffee maker, I put equal amounts of vinegar and water through a coffee cycle and wow, does that keep the coffee maker fresh!!

I use vinegar when making hard boiled eggs. Put vinegar in the water while boiling and then transfer the eggs to ice cold water once they are done cooking. They're a lot easier to peel.

Thanks for sharing the tips.

I had balsamic vinegar on my cold veggie lunch. Your blog made me feel good about that.

Other uses:

A tsp of vinegar in pet's water. It deters fleas and ticks.

Use apple cider vinegar in place of deodeorant. You only smell like a salad for moment.

1/2 cup vinegar in the rinse cycle not only softens your clothes and eliminates odors, it helps keep your pipes clean.

I use malt vinegar on fish & chips like they do in England. Very good!

Thanks for a great conversational blog, Kitt!

I also use white vinegar as a natural fabric softener. It removes any excess soap residue, and makes things softer. Also knew about it for insect bites, etc, and also sunburn. I love apple cider vinegar on french fries!. Learned a couple of new things, too. Thanks for sharing.

I use vinegar (white) instead of fabric softener. It doesn't make towels water repellant nor a fire hazard like chemical softener, and because it is food it is tax free too. I understand it works by making the basically alkaline water softer by neutralizing it with acid.
