GRRRRR!!!

Monday, February 11, 2013

I’m just so FRUSTRATED! I’m sick of the 5 pound shuffle! Down 3, Up 2, Down 1, Up 4 - GRRRRR!!! Before the holiday I was happily holding steady about 5 lbs above my target weight. Not too shabby. I put back on over 10 at the holiday and now I’m playing this game. I really want to find a way to turn off the “Bigpaws up has lost XX lbs” simply because it is the SAME 2, 3, or 4 LBS for the last week! I lost it Friday and found it Tuesday.

And I’m not making excuses. I know a big part of why I’m up today was my eating yesterday. I lived on popcorn and carrots. My dad’s wife turned 50 and there was NOTHING there for me to eat. Even the beans had bacon and an entire stick of butter. So there was a veggie tray and I at about 2 cups of baby carrots. That really wasn’t enough after 6 hours so I snarffed on popcorn as it was the only other thing in the house not coated in meat and butter. I couldn’t even go out and get anything because it was HER day and I needed to be there to help out (never mind her 20 something daughter was nowhere to be found).

Now don’t get me wrong! I’m thrilled with my improved body. And I’m still at a “healthy” BMI (more or less). I also know I’m not doing anywhere near as much as I wash to lose the weight. But I’d just like to stop the rollercoaster. I’d be happy just to stay even for a week or two at this point.

Ok, done growling.

Today has to be a simple challenge for myself as I won’t be home much tonight. So I’m going with 30 minutes of ST on my arms. I can do that. Maybe 45?

The family events never seem to keep your eating habits in mind! You need to start bringing more satisfying fare to these events since they are usually stressful and don't offer you much in the way of sustinence (sp?) Growl any time you want!

That's precisely why I rarely weigh myself. If I'm exercising and eating right, I don't need numbers to tell me how well or poor I'm doing. It sounds like you did the best you could given what was being served.

I think you should ditch the scale for a while and just keep making healthy choices as best you can. Hang in there!

I know what you are saying! I feel your pain. We will do it.

You look wonderful, but meeting that goal and being able to stay there is going to be a life long challenge. But we can do it!

Have strength within yourself, you know that you are worth it!!!

if you haven't found it yet, there is an option to not show the weight lost. Go to your sparkpage and pull up the options and it should be right there. I've turned mine off several times for that very reason.

Popcorn and carrots for one day isn't the end of the world, but it sure would be nice if "they" would have a little more consideration. You are much more patient than I am, I'm afraid I would've said "see ya" and went for a bite leaving the birthday lady to fend for herself for a few minutes.

I'm right where you are. Gaining and losing the same 5 pounds. It's frustrating, but we know where we're going wrong. WE CAN FIX THIS. Each of us. Together.

And you're doing challenges, which is great. I think they are keeping you focused.

    How'd the arms go?

The scale can be so annoying- its just frustrating when it seems to be the same pounds shifting or coming back. Maybe take a little break from it, and just continue pushing like you have been while concentrating on the NSV? The, re-check when things are more calm? Hopefully, it will behave better. Nothing like stress and family functions to throw a kink into weight loss, but I know you can bounce back!

at least they're only 2-4 pounds , I'm yo yoing 10 kilos. but after 2 years of plateau I started to lose weight again, but I'm still almost 5 pounds heavier than my lowest point 2 years ago. will I break it? we'll see. anyway , that's why I keep doing measurements too . cause I can be up even 10 pounds in a day, hormones and salt related. you keep doing the right things and your body will get bored eventually to oppose you emoticon

Wow, I think we are both stuck on the same boat. I can be in a downward spiral all week and then wham! the weekend comes or one sigher than normal sodium filled meal and I creep up a few pounds. Now Im pushing the water and will have to wait two days to see any improvement.

I know it's hard but maybe you can start taking "healthy" foods/snacks with you when you go somewhere so you aren't stuck existing on baby carrots and popcorn. I mean, what are you, a rabbit? Nope. You need real food. And it's funny how you felt the need to be there and be supportive and care for someone but you put yourself last. You can't keep putting yourself last. Make yourself a priority. Make your nutrition and fitness a priority. The rest will fall into place.

Push your water and eat good today. I'm sure that little blip will be gone soon.

The scale can drive you nuts if you keep checking it. That is EXACTLY why I don't go by the scale much.

You can disable the feature but even if it's a roller coaster, still it's up and DOWN. So you must celebrate every time the scale says you did something good!

PS. To disable the feature you can go to:
Community tab -- Friends Feed -- Edit my Privacy Settings -- Uncheck the "Weight Lost (when you weigh-in)"

Hmmmm....sounds like the family event was actually more of a stressor than the weight issue. But I agree . . . for now . . . banish the scale. Yesterday was yesterday. Forgetabout it (as much as you can -- can't go back and change it, so . . . what can you do). Might just add it would peeve me to be helping out too if an able bodied DD was nowhere in sight to offer a helpig hand as well. Whatever. At least YOU were nice enought to help out. That's about all that can be said about that one.

HUGS and hang in there. The other reality is that at a certainn point the body does need to "adjust" to what's going on, so you "stall out" or yo yo. so, just hang in there and look @ any NSV events.

HUGS HUGS HUGS. You can do it.

Don't let the scales get you down. You've done so much and come so far. Keep making those healthy choices and you will find the success that you're hoping for. Blessings to you on your journey.

right time to ban the scale for at least a month and start concemtrateing on nsv instead no matter how big or smal.you had the carrots instead of the beans a bacon,NSV.you helped your step mom instead of going out to buy stuff nsv(aven if not a good one) you ate popcorn instead of something less healthy.nsv.see what i mean.you got out of bed instead of lying in.NSV.i bet when you start seeing all your choices most will be a form of nsv but because they have now become habbit you have stopped seeing it as such.start writting them alll down and be surprized how many nsv you make in a day, week, month.then go to the scales after the month and whatever it says rejoice in the fact you have all those nsv.let me know how you get on with it. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Family events are always frustrating for me too. Sounds like you did the best you could under the circumstances. If it's always like that, can you at least bring a dish you know you can eat the next time?

Hang in there! The roller coaster will come to a stop soon enough. Please hold on tight until the ride has come to a complete stop and then exit quickly but with care! Thank you for riding with us! emoticon
