The light goes on!

I have been racking my brain trying to figure out why I was able to do so well fitness wise this time last year. I admit we had a very mild winter last year, but it's not the temperature (well, not just the temperature) that has kept me indoors and on couch potatoe mode. I have tons of equipment and videos of all types to get my sweat on.

It just hit me as I left a comment on someone's blog. I was not working this time last year. It's very hard to want to be up and active when it's pitch black outside, for me any way. I was laid off in Jan 2012 and was out of work till mid March. So I spent 2-2.5 months playing video games and working part time and had lots of daylight and 70 degree weather to get out and active. I even started running then. By March the days were longer and even though I was working and getting home at the same time as now, I had gotten used to the activity and craved it and it was still light out. It wasn't everyday, but it happened a lot. I also made a time slot for the exercise and stuck to it.

I am getting back to that. I have been waking up before my alarms again. Like 5:40ish, the daylight alarm starts up at 5:45 am. It's been happening for a week or so. Not everyday, but enough to where I noticed. It happened again this morning. But instead of rolling over and going back to sleep, I got up and did the 15 min. Bum Bum rapido work out and ~30 push ups. Now, I am so outta shape again. I had to pause the video a couple of times and once had to sit down so I didn't barf. It's humbling how quickly things go downhill.

I am going to try and do the elliptical this afternoon. We'll see. My jeans have gotten a little snug and I need to get back into it.

    There was a time in life when 5:45 was for going to bed. Sigh. But congrats on the much healthier use of that ungodly hour to do something good for yourself. And I'm sure you'll regain that "lost" fitness faster than you think.
