reasons for wanting to lose weight

why would anyone in the obese range want to lose weight?
well ok, i bounce back and forth from 'obese' to 'overweight', but never really get even close to 'normal'. i'd sure love to see the day! haven't been there since...?
as a kid i was slender, my hands and feet tell me i should be slender. everything in-between is not slender.
and i have a 'virus': dancing. ever seen an obese ballerina? that's me.
now i teach more than dance, but who wants an obese ballet teacher?
plus, i feel the extra weight on my joints and bones; i don't feel comfortable in clothes i like, clothes shopping shocks me when i see what size i have to get-- you can only find frumpy stuff at that stage!

how do i want to look? normal! ok i'll never see a flat belly, never have.
how do i want to feel? energetic! light, flexible, easy to move.
what do i want to be able to do? get my nose on my knees again (with straight legs); a cartwheel.
(ps. i'm pushing 60. are those normal wishes at that age?)

pass the cookies. oh-- wait-- maybe not, then.
hey, these assignments are doing their job.

I pushed past 60 and I want to climb mountains so I don't think doing a cartwheel in your 50's is in any way out of line. Go for it, and glad you've given up on the flat belly.
Blasted fat always wants to hide out there.

I'm 62. I lost 33 pounds over the course of a year, reaching goal almost 5 years ago, at age 57. I wasn't sure I could do it at that age, with my pain issues, but I did. Now I'm trying for another 7-10 pounds and now I know that I can do it.

Your wishes sound reasonable to me. Although I could never do a cartwheel ! But then, you're a ballet dancer, so go for it, you can do it !

I'm pushing 60 too . . . and to answer your question, your wishes are totally normal for our age group! Keep pushin'.
