I've been working on losing weight for a long time. I happened upon spark people by looking for a recipe using butternut squash. Since it was free, I joined the program. I thought that I would work hard to follow all the program steps for 90 days to see where it would take me. This is day 41. So far, I have lost at least 10 pounds. I am still leary that this is the right program, but I will try to meet all the challenges and goals for 90 and see where I am then. This should be an interesting ride.

    Welcome to Spark People!!!

10 pounds, well done!!! I got here because I was using another weight loss system and a friend sent me a link to here. I thought OK, this could be a good back up resource. Well, that system is gone and I'm here every day!!!

Glad you are here!!!

Hi there - how are you doing?

So you don't know me so feel free to ignore my remarks if you like.

I think the MOST IMPORTANT point I want to convey here is that things have got to be different than they've been in the past.

Diets and programs and plans have this temporary feeling about them and that makes them, in my opinion, likely to fail ultimately. I think what SP tries to communicate is that it can't just be a plan or a program for a little bit.

What I've personally been focusing on is ensuring that my life is different going forward than it has been in the past. I look at the time I wasted following this plan or that one, fully expecting that I'd not stay on them forever. Now I try to focus on just a few things - hitting my daily net calorie target, incorporating movement and activity into my life and becoming mentally stronger. That last part is KEY.

Anyone can lose weight - ANYONE.

The much harder thing to do is change one's life for good and then maintain that change. I encourage you to focus on the long haul - I'm sure you can be successful in your efforts if you do that.

You are strong.
Strong enough.
Way stronger than you think.

I look forward to hearing about your progress.

Make it a great day!
