Since my last blog post, my life has changed completely. Talk about a crazy (in a wonderful kind of way) couple of years! I married my sweetheart. We moved to a new place. I got promoted to management. He got a new job. We had a baby.
Lots of awesome changes. Lots of stressful changes.
To be honest, fitness hasn't been much of a priority since Alec was born 10 months ago. I fully understand why all of those people kept telling me that you are in survival mode for the first year after having a new baby! I had a fantastic pregnancy, and I only gained 21 pounds. Within 2 weeks after bringing him home, I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight. But by the time my maternity leave was over, I had put on 15 pounds, and they've been hanging around ever since.
I have told myself a million times that I need to get it off, but with all of the responsibilities that come with being a new mom and a new manager, fitness has taken a back seat to late-night feedings and convenience/comfort food.
With the baby getting closer to his 1st birthday, I'm finally starting to feel "normal" again. I feel ready to commit myself to some new goals. So this week, I am making an effort to be more mindful of what is going into my mouth and how much activity I'm doing. I'm also starting a daily meditation routine, which I am very excited about.
So, for this week, my goals will be to drink 8 cups a water a day, meditate daily, take vegetables to work for lunch 4 days, and exercise to an online video 2 times.
