Foodie Day - Trying New Things!

Yesterday, Nicole and I went to the grocery store for just a couple things and we decided to throw caution to the wind and pick up a few of those healthier choices emoticon foods that we have been wanting to try but just never did.

It is so easy for me to SAY that I want to try something, but to put the money into actually buying it and worrying if I just wasted my money on something I will hate is a whole other story. Can you relate?

Well, this morning, I took the plunge. I had a breakfast that I have never had before! First of all, I rarely eat a good breakfast, if at all. I just get so busy that it doesn't happen. I also never eat yogurt. I just don't like the aftertaste of yogurt and it isn't something that I can usually stomach.

Well... today, all of that changed! I had GREEK yogurt. Chobani bite - Coffee with Dark Chocolate Chips.

It comes in a 4-pack and have 100 calories per container. I was hesitant to buy it since I wasn't sure if I would like the flavor, texture... or anything about it.

Luckily, I liked it!

Then, for dinner, we decided to make spaghetti. We always make separate noodles for the kids, but we had not decided what to make for the adults. We used our usually ground turkey to replace the ground beef. I added some no-salt-added diced tomatoes into the sauce for extra veggie power.

Then, I was rummaging around the cupboards and uncovered some noodles pasta that I completely forgot that I bought quinoa pasta a while ago. I never had the nerve to make it.

I have never tried quinoa, even though I have heard great reviews and I know how great it is for me.

Well, I made up these noodles tonight and they were an absolute hit! They are a little bit more earthy than the regular spaghetti noodles, but not as dense as whole wheat pasta (which I only eat because I should, not because I like it)


I recommend both the quinoa pasta AND the chobani coffee greek yogurt (if you like coffee).

I am going to try the caramel and pineapple flavor tomorrow for breakfast. Anyone try that one? What are your favorite greek yogurt flavors?

    Yeah for trying something new!! I love yogurt so I will eat any brand/flavor.

It's a good thing to step outside your comfort zone. It was a positive step forward for you!!

  Before I discovered I was sensitive to dairy, I used to eat plain greek yogurt with fresh or frozen berries every morning for breakfast. I would also toss in some flax seed sometimes. I like the Quinoa pasta a lot too! emoticon

    i love trying new foods and it really does refresh your diet and your diet palate !!! Great choices and I've not had either of those. I usually go for some exotic fruit I've never tried or a new fiber/protein bar since I can buy one at a time !! LOL..

    My favorite Chobani flavor is the dark cherry for sure. Sort of a lot of sugar, but I eat it after my workouts so I need those carbs. I will have to try that dark chocolate coffee one though.

    Pineapple is my favorite!!! If you can find the passion fruit, grab one of those too!!! Out of all their flavors, the only one I didn't care for was the strawberry (just a little too sweet for me), oh, and blood orange. I've never seen the chocolate one, so I'm gonna have to keep my eyes open.

    I actually like the plain Greek yogurt because it has a tang to it. I know some folks find it too tart. Good for you being adventurous!

    GO YOU congrats for putting yourself out there. I love Chobani, I use the plain low fat (blue container), I add 1/4 cup Kashi cereal & 1/4cup of my protein powder (chocolate truffle). Protein and crunch. Going to try the quinoa soon
