Weekend Accountability and Upcoming Events

Sunday, February 10, 2013

Hello all! After last week I was what I like to call "introverted out" and definitely had to recover this weekend. I'm doing well, though!

I weighed in at 135.4 this morning, so it appears my PMS and Cortisol-stress bloat has been eliminated.

I have only 5 days until my birthday.

This is my very first Lenten season as an Episcopalian and I've decided to do a pretty traditional fast. I'll be eliminating the consumption of all animal products during this time. On Fat Tuesday I'll be celebrating with my church in preparation for Lent. They'll be serving red beans and rice with King Cake shipped in from New Orleans. I'm looking forward to it!

I am looking forward to Lent this year. I want my primary focus to be emotional, spiritual, and physical well being. I believe that the care of our own bodies is a stewardship. I plan to use this time to focus on that and what it means to me. (also my Lenten "sacrifice" will be oil fried food)

Have a very blessed Lent.

Have a happy Fat Tuesday! I'm going to be giving up eating out for Lent, but I will be fasting for Ash Wed, (although I won't be able to get my ashes because I have to work) I'm really excited for this Lenten season, my faith has been wavering lately and even in years past Lent has always brought me closer to God.

Be careful not to swallow the baby if you get that piece...

Modern tradition says if you get the baby, you have to buy the next king cake, but it was originally a bean, and there was one cake for the men, and one for the ladies. That's how the King and Queen were chosen to officiate at the Mardi Gras Balls.

Have fun at your New Orleans feast!

I hear you on introverted out. I always used Lent as a time to search my faith and meditate on life.
