Trip to Bay Area

Apparently Dan is grinding his teeth while sleeping. He has no specific pattern in mind and the dentist thinks he oughta stop. Soooo, we’ll be back here in a couple weeks to get some sort of device for Dan to wear at night.
Dan wanted me to watch while Colleen cut his hair so I could see how to do it. I picked up a couple ideas. We’ll see if it helps next time I’m allowed to play with the scissors.
We went the Jess & Sam’s for dinner. We brought our rotisserie and prepared tritip. Sam made a great salad and roasted some veggies. Earlier in the day Janice had given me a couple pieces of cake since yesterday was my birthday. So, we cut them in half and each got a perfect size piece of cake for dessert.
Jenn was able to come by Jess’ place for a few minutes before her Bible study class. She is still sick. I’m glad she’s going to see the doc tomorrow.
Speaking of sick, I think I’m catching something. I woke up with a raw throat and started feeling achy this evening. Took some super-ibuprofen so feel better right now. I really, really want to meet my friends in Castro Valley for a bike ride tomorrow. The weather isn’t cooperating – they are predicting rain through the morning. Between feeling punk and bad weather, I think I’ll be out of luck.
Friday: Had to call Al and let him know I wouldn’t be at the ride this morning. The weather ended up cooperating but I’m just not feeling up to a fast, hilly ride.
Dan and I toddled around town seeing folks and getting some errands done. I went with him to see the cardiologist. Dan needs to take the cholesterol medicine or he WILL suffer consequences. (Not the first time he’s been given this information – maybe this time he’ll heed the advice.)
Julia met us at her grandparents house and the three of us went to lunch. Then we zipped out of town to beat the traffic over to Livermore. It worked. There was a little back up but not bad.
Our next stop was Greg & Debbie’s new condo. They invited us to bring our second-string bikes and leave them at their place so we could fly down and still bike with them in the future.
Friday night/Saturday: We spent the night, went to breakfast with Greg’s airport buddies and, eventually, got out for an easy spin. Temperature was below freezing when we got up but it warmed into the 50s for our ride. We took some of the bike paths through town. I’d seen them when cycling on the streets but hadn’t ever ridden on them. There was minimal traffic and smooth pavement. We did 16 miles with only a small portion on city streets.
I am not getting better. Debbie has been ‘mothering’ me with Airborne and pain killer.
Met Julia for dinner and then headed on home. I think we got in about 9pm. Dan isn’t feeling good either so we both went right to bed.
Sunday: I stayed in bed until after 2pm. Not feeling any better right now but am up for the time being. Dan is napping on the couch. Would like to get some stuff done but not feeling up to it. Guess it’ll wait…
