Today I placed an order at Sephora for my FAVORITE perfume (Philosphy's Pure Grace) and a small untried fragrance (Living Grace) plus some samples. It should arrive right on Valentine's Day or before. I am really excited to have gotten myself a gift this year. :)
I am in what I would call a very strained relationship, in addition to the fact that he has never been much for holidays or gifts or romance or spending time together, etc.
So, instead of being sad or disappointed about what I do not have in my life, I am taking steps to make sure that I love myself and show myself that I do. Something very new for me. Not that I need to buy or receive something to feel loved, but it will be fun to get a "gift".
I've also been very careful since Dec. of last year to not shop for entertainment anymore. I am a bargain hunter, but was really just buying stuff to fill a void, or I was on my way to a bad habit there, anyway. I'm glad to have recognized it before it caused a real problem. I think I've done really well. I sort of transferred all of the shopping desire into couponing for our groceries and household needs. I think it has worked out very well, as I still get to shop and I am getting great deals (which I love) but am not wrecking my budget and am in fact helping the family budget in a big way.
So, this is a splurge, but for a special occasion.
It feels indulgent and kind of great! :)
