What Difference a Day makes Blizzard of 2013 the day after

Sunday, February 10, 2013

After I cooked a HUGE pancake breakfast this Am off we went to continue digging out the cars.

My car was buried as you know in the parking lot and they managed to get SOME snow out with a snow blower BUT DH and I needed to go back about 6 feet to the height of 27" or more. What a cardio!! We actually got the spot just about bare please see the before and after photos below;

AFTER

Our future daughter in law went home to get clothes and food for her dog since they are staying with us till their power gets restored so I moved her car OUT of the spot I had it in and moved my car to her spot since we have resident parking BUT before I did that I worked with 6 other young people who had their cars behind mine and we totally GUTTED out the snow and have a trench like parking area with NO SNOW and no snow on the street we piled it elsewhere So there are the before and after photos of that:

Just so you all know we have an unwritten law in our community when we have snow storms such as these - IF YOU SHOVEL YOURSELF OUT you can claim your spot with a cone, a bucket, a chair, a toilet ANYTHING that is in the spot means YOU claim it - especially after you have spent over 2 hours shoveling it out. This is usually good for 48 hours or more depending upon the snow storm!!

Anyhow once my DH and I had everyone all set with their spots and our spots all done we sat on the front stairs in the wonderful warm sun with a bottle of wine and chatted with all the young people and then helped others as they came to clean their cars off

One thing about these storms it can bring the BEST out of people! I hope that happened today as I interacted with so many new people!

    A good old fashioned blizzard that remembered as a child
Used to just wish for the blowing snow so could stay inside all day
Thinking of you as you continue to plow yourself out
One day at a time

    Did you have ice today since some of the snow melted yesterday? Hope you were able to get to your appointments today!
Hugs!

    It is really nice that you got to meet your new neighbours; that will strengthen your sense of community for years to come.

    I can't imagine that much snow! I love that it brought out true community spirit. Stay warm!
