carbs & recording food

Sunday, February 10, 2013

so . . . I have not been diligent with recording food lately

yeah - up 4 pounds hehe

and I do believe not so much that it was cuz I eating carbs, but for my body, the wrong kind.

sometimes its frustrating for me cuz I'm the only one trying to eat healthy. my hubby and kidz can eat all these carbs, and me, I shouldn't.

Although last night I did make a bit of a breakthrough.

Usually when hubby would decide to order pizza, I'd get some too. I bailed. I had decided to only order out 2x a month. I already ordered out at the beginning of the month.

so . . . .I can't order out until the next weekend or so. That was progress for me.

So for me, noodles and rice, are no-nos. But starchy veggies such as peas and potatoes and ezekiel bread or spelt bread are good.

I have to remember that. Its just hard sometimes when all my "support" is online, y'know?

I saw your blog posted and I just had to read it and then with doing that and reading the comments too, I felt that I could enter into what you're going through so much! My husband and our grown son (we dairy farm) are super good supporters but of course, love their chubbier foods and love to bring in donuts, candy, you name it, and it's here and they know that I'm trying to be careful but forget too. And also, it's kind've handy for them to have it on the counter too. I get so I put it in the freezer, depending what it is, and they don't mind it cold, like candy, and yet it's out of sight for me. Oh my, what we have to do to keep true to our commitment, right? We just have to plan and plan and plan and I'm learning all along how to do that. Eating out is almost better because we can all get just what we want. I tend to get lots of salads and watch my toppings. I love like Bonanza or somewhere like that with a good salad bar and also some meat too ordered, like a chicken breast or little steak, and I feel so happy and satisfied along with my family! Good luck to you! We can do it!!

yeah, tried spaghetti squash - gross

i actually don't care for mashed potatoes

and a small baked potato with sour cream and salsa or yoghurt and salsa or tiny bit of butter and salt and garlic powder is fine by me.

its small, and its much MORE satisfying

emoticon I'm the only one here trying to eat healthy, too. It's so hard when my dh brings home Captain Crunch for him and the girls to eat for breakfast, and just this weekend my MIL sent us home with about 2 or 3 pounds of organic m&ms from Earthfare (sweets and chocolate are my weakness). I'm trying to get back on track, too. Luckily I like spaghetti squash, so I can swap that out for the noodles. And I haven't tried the cauliflower mock rice or mock pizza crust (there are recipes for them all over - you might try that), but I've made a mock mashed potato recipe that used cauliflower (found it on sparkrecipes - Cyn's Mock Potatoes, maybe?), and while it didn't taste like potatoes, it was fabulous. My dh even loved it.

I am a carboholic and watching them has been killing me. We go out every Friday night with friends (Date Night.) I am starting to really watch what I order and luckily I have some great friends who are working with me, even though they don't need to. My husband, like yours, watches nothing and eats everything. I am thankful that I have groups on Spark that I can work with and I answer to. Makes it easier.

thanx so much. if there was a walmart somewhat close to me, I'd go food shoppin there in a second. none that are super close to me.

but it does sound enticing to me.

thank you very much. I am NOT considering going super caveman barely any carbs diet, just MODERATELY lower, because really. With pcos, NO, I do NOT have healthy typical metabolism. its flawed with dysfunctional hormones, so I realize eating lower in carbs, its not just for my weight, but general well being.

With Joseph's Lavash bread at Walmart, you can make a relatively low carb pizza on a pizza stone in your very own oven. If you sense denial in limiting yourself, perhaps you can find some improved options for eating out ... Even if it's something as simple as a side salad with something more substantial at home. You can do this, I'm confident. Hug, hug -- Evelyn
