Blizzard Doldrums

Sunday, February 10, 2013

I want to be positive and upbeat today but it's tough! I live in NE and got at least 2' of snow. Housebound yesterday (the gov. shut down the roadways until 4 pm) I cleaned the entire apartment, did all the laundry, and created a grocery list/dinner list for the week. I cooked a healthy dinner and took a nice bath and enjoyed the day at home. This morning, however, I knew we had to dig at least one car out and venture out to go to the grocery store. Now, we live in an apartment complex with a shared parking lot and no assigned parking spaces. I told my husband, don't invest too much effort into this parking space. He said don't worry it is only 9 a.m., on a Sunday, it will be fine.

An hour later, after a perfect box is cut around my car (my husband does not listen) the car is able to be moved from its spot and off to Stop & Shop we go. They are out of some veggies, (I doubt they can accept deliveries!) but we got mostly everything we need for the week and within 45 minutes we were back in the parking lot. The biggest surprise in the world to my husband was that yes, someone took the parking spot. so we had to steal someone else's spot (after Richie made that one more perfect) and that was that. So by 10 a.m. I had the grocery shopping done, a meal plan for the day, and nothing to do but study for my Risk Management class.

So I am studying for my CPCU which is a professional designation. I do not think I would have signed up for this if I knew how freaking boring the first class is, Foundations of RM and Insurance. Now I work in Insurance, so I am ready for boring. But this baby freaking takes the case. However, if I fail the test March 1 I have to pay the $300 course fee, and I look like an idiot at my job so I have to at least read the textbook.

The plan was to go to the gym sometime today, I'm obviously not moving my car again, but the complex has a gym which is about a 7 minute walk from my apartment. Going would entail putting on my snow boots and carrying my sneakers. I figured I'd go when I was done my 2 chapters of reading for RM. I am five pages in on the 2nd chapter and I cannot find the energy to finish. I know I should go to the gym but I have to finish this reading but it is just so much easier to surf the internet!

On a good side, tonight I am making lemony garlic pasta (yum!) and The Walking Dead returns!

...ok - back to Risk Management. Just after I read one more blog...
