Half-Marathon Prep: Slept 11 hours

Sunday, February 10, 2013

In my last blog I whined about how I was getting sick and joked that instead of my scheduled 11-mile run I ought to sleep for 11 hours.

It turns out I did just that last night/this morning (plus two naps during the day Saturday). It did wonders. Yesterday I had an achy head and periodic chills. Went out and ate hot & sour soup for dinner - right on target! - and then retired while the movie "Batman: The Dark Knight Rises" echoed from downstairs (teen daughter was determined to watch it. Lots of shouting except when there was lots of shooting as far as I could tell by the soundtrack). Listened to a little basketball and jazz while finishing a good book, then fell asleep. Today no chills, no headache, no sore throat, and I even have some energy.

Life lesson: get enough sleep!

You have to listen to your body. Rest when you need it. I try to sneak in naps & early bed times when I feel the crud coming on.

emoticon good to hear you're on the mend. I pushed a bit too hard and am succumbing to the grips of this pesky cold so I will take a page from your book and try to get 12 hours of shuteye tonight. emoticon

Glad you're feeling better and got some rest your body was apparently craving!

Sometimes we just need to rest. Our body knows.
