Hello Out There :-)
I've been here before a long time ago and then I allowed life to get me side-tracked. I'm back in a pickle once again. I work for hospice and I see home patients as well as long-term care facility patients. I spend a lot of time in my vehicle as well as a lot of time in "Max Stress Mode". That is a really bad combo for me as I find myself eating the wrong foods, or getting in such a whirlwind that by the time I'm hungry... I'm extremely hungry and stop at the first place that has food. I was at one point packing a cooler bag with healthy foods but then the "On Call" schedule went haywire and I'm now on call every other day. The food prep and planning got put on the back burner as did my excercise time.
Then my sister called me with news of her plans one day. She was having surgery. My sister had the "sleeve" surgery where they remove 85% of your stomach a few days ago. It really has made me realize that I don't want to get to the point where I have to have surgery. I've already had a heart attack and have a stent and I'm not 50 yet. Don't get me wrong, I'm not downing it at all by any means and I'm happy she is finally on track for a healthier life, but for me personally, I definitely don't want to get to the point that I have to go to the extreme of surgically have a part of "me" removed for me to get healthy.
So that incident nudged me back here to SparkPeople. Right off the bat I found the Official Stress Busting Challenge and joined it. Then I find out there's now SparkCoach which is fantastic and I think will be a great tool for me to get my act together.
Well that's all for now I' looking forward to the journey. Hope to meet some of you on the boards and teams.
