Spider Bite

Sunday, February 10, 2013

Ok, so I looked it up on the internet (what WOULD we do without this incredible innovation?!) and have come to the conclusion that it was a Wolf Spider that I shared my bed with the other night. Know it was my bed because the bite wasn't there when I went to sleep and was when I woke up. The photo I looked at and the nasty thing I have on the back of my right upper arm looked exactly the same. Big red spot, big lump, hot to the touch and volcano (complete with crater) in the center. (Sorry if this is TMI.) So they tell me I most likely won't die from this. And the major pain did not last very long. But does it HAVE to ITCH so much?!? It's driving me craaazzzyyy!! I'm hoping that this is not a sign of the year to come. Sick, sick and then sick AGAIN and now this.....sigh....
And the ironic part? Had I seen said spider? I would have gotten a tissue, picked it up, and (even at 2 in the morning), would have taken it carefully outside. And then worried about it being too cold. Not the spider's fault, they just do what they do when an absolute GIANT rolls on top of them. And I don't really have spiders in the house much. Ok, I admit it, I'm weird. But I have rats for pets....I think that might point to the idea that I am not too concerned about the less "attractive" critters. (Although my girls ARE adorable, check my page out.) I step around ants when I walk....my daughter busted a gut when I told her I was NOT going to ruin any ants day if I could help it. Yup, weird....

Home remedy - put some meat tenderizer compote on the bite - it pulls out the gook faster. Also can help the itch.

I love your rat girls! They are so cute. Sometimes people mistake MRSA for spider bites so you might keep that in mind. Since you found the spider it could be but it sounds a lit like a MRSA. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

you are very blessed that it was not either a brown recluse or it's just-as lethal cousin the hobo spider. My friend got bitten by the hobo ten years ago, is now paralyzed on one side, is in constant agony that even morphine or any other drugs will relieve the pain.
Keep your eyeballs peeled on this and in contact with your doctor.. Also, remember, there are more where that one came from, especially in colder weather.. are you getting your home sprayed for these??
