Thawing Out

Sunday, February 10, 2013

Amazing what we take for granted, isn't it? Heat, electricity, running water, TV, internet access even. I've become pretty darned spoiled. Yesterday was an eye-opener.

What do we do when we are not connected?

Maybe families can play board games, talk, play, go sledding, build snowmen?

I wrapped myself up in my comforter and did some reading.

Part of me thinks I wasted a day. I could have been doing housework (and I did a little - a very little) or other useful tasks despite the lack of heat and electricity. But sometimes a little downtime is a good thing. It's good to reassess priorities from time to time, and take a break from the rat race. Call it a mini-vacation.

So aside from being colder than I'd like, it was a good day.

I can relate! I am glad to hear that you are okay. I finally made it out of the house for the first time since being sent home from work early on Friday. Friends and family have been checking on me via phone, but it was really nice to get out of the house today. emoticon
