Amazing what we take for granted, isn't it? Heat, electricity, running water, TV, internet access even. I've become pretty darned spoiled. Yesterday was an eye-opener.
What do we do when we are not connected?
Maybe families can play board games, talk, play, go sledding, build snowmen?
I wrapped myself up in my comforter and did some reading.
Part of me thinks I wasted a day. I could have been doing housework (and I did a little - a very little) or other useful tasks despite the lack of heat and electricity. But sometimes a little downtime is a good thing. It's good to reassess priorities from time to time, and take a break from the rat race. Call it a mini-vacation.
So aside from being colder than I'd like, it was a good day.
