Blizzard of '13

Now I really see how fortunate I am to be away from home this winter. The storm has crippled my town and most of the state. The amount of snow is making it difficult to clear the roads. In my city alone, there is only 1 payloader that can work to push this vast amount of snow and it hasn't done much. Almost all of the roads are untouched. The police say for an emergency, call 911 and they will come with an ATV to get you to bring you to the hospital.
The mayor asked for help from the National Guard but they too are overwhelmed and people are told to just stay inside. Neighbors have posted pictures of my street that included my house and I sure am glad we got the furnace situation cleared up. The snow is half way up my garage door.
But everyone is safe and power is still on so they are lucky in that way and we will keep in touch. I love facebook for that. My nieces, the nurses have spent the weekend at the hospital on duty, even overnight. Good thing they made it in before the storm. My parents are doing ok as long as Dad doesn't decide to go outside. His shed blew down but it was old and not important. Newspeople are saying that a heavy rain is coming and people should watch out for the weight on their roofs, perhaps shoveling them. What a stupid thing to say!! This makes my Dad at age 90 think it's going to cave in and he should do something. Good thing everyone yelled at him about it. I sure hope he listens. Sometimes the media puts thought in your head that you would have never had by yourself. It's really too much!!
I hope all my friends are safe and just cuddle up and enjoy this time off. I doubt that there will be any work open for tomorrow and perhaps beyond too.
