I'll do a blog later with a few photos but thought I'd post a short one tonight. My husband and I went to Sydney for a few days. Spent two nights in the city and two nights in Terrigal on the Central Coast. We were supposed to be doing our first Tough Mudder but they rescheduled the event, leaving a lot of people stuck with hotels and flights. Since it was my birthday on thursday I didn't mind getting away for a couple of days.
We had a great visit, saw a couple of my friends, did lots and lots of walking, ate at a really fancy reastaurant on my birthday and went on a 4 1/2 hour hike. I love Sydney. We even got a visit in to our favourite breakfast place this morning before getting our flight.
I did not track or get a run in. I choose somewhat healthy food but definitely indulged. I was well and truly on track before I left so hopefully I can get straight back to it this week. I didn't get any runs while I was away but walked a lot and the hike we did was pretty intense. I wore my trail shoes for the hike and I have decided I will definitely not be wearing them for 100k walk I'm doing. My shins and calves are sore and my feet were hurting by the end. Not enough cushioning I think. I also am pretty sure I pulled a muscle in my calf. I'm not blaming the shoes for that but it sure hurts! Not quite sure what shoes I will be wearing though. I have hiking boots but they hurt my shins so would have to do quite a bit in them to adjust first or I might just wear regular runners. Good thing I have 4 months to decide.
Speaking of runners. I got fitted again for a pair. I am not 100% happy of the pair I got in the US. It was the same shop my husband went to and they do an awesome job. The Running Company in Kings Cross. I haven't tried my new shoes but they felt great at the store and I'm back to Asics which I have worn for years.
Alright, off to bed! Great to be back :-)
