Last week some young gals from a skating club in a town about 40 miles away came to put on a show. I've never been to a live ice skating show, and our skating rink is just down the street from me, so I thought it would be fun to go. Two of the girls are from my town that skate with the club. I called a friend and she said she'd like to go, too, and would pick me up. But when the sun went down around 5:00 it got even colder, and the wind came up. I began to think maybe I didn't want to go so much after all, since our rink is an OUTDOOR rink. But I decided to brave the cold. I bundled up in two pairs of leggings under my jeans, two pairs of socks inside my boots, two under armor type shirts underneath a sweatshirt underneath my winter coat, a scarf, hood, and gloves. Oh, yes, and I took a blanket along to wrap up in also. Well, the temp was about 8 degrees with a cold, brisk wind at showtime, and I was shivering as I sat in the bleachers with a cup of hot chocolate. Then the show began, and out of the warming house came these brave young girls with their bare little skating dresses and skated their hearts out with smiles on their faces and not a single complaint about the weather! It was fun to watch and even though I was cold, I was glad I'd gone to support them as they froze their little butts to perform for us!
