Exceptionally Beautiful Day!

Saturday, February 09, 2013

Yesterday we had the biggest snow fall of the year: at least a foot, with lots of blowing. Everything was pretty much shut down and the staff went home early. I worked till about 6 pm, got stuck in the driveway. DH managed to lock himself out of the office, had to take a taxi home! Then, once he'd done his magic with the snowblower, he and I drove back together in my car to lock up properly and rescue his car . . . so it was a long day.

This morning, clear blue skies and glorious sparkling. We got out on our cross country skis . . . it was actually very heavy going, the snow so powdery and no track cut so little kick/glide. But: incredibly beautiful. And I'm positive I burned a whack of calories!

Laundry and groceries done, lovely dinner of baked chicken, rosemary potatoes, brussels sprouts, carrots and apple crisp (sometimes I do manage to get a little domestic!!) and there will be soup making tomorrow.

Also: more skiing!!

It sounds like a wonderful day. The snow missed us here in Virginia. We got the cold and wind, though.

So happy you got over the humps and out on the skis. There is something so magical about the silence of man- (or woman-) powered transit in the snow. The sunlight sparkling on the blanket of white... oh, yes, it's pretty, breath-taking, wonder-filled.

Enjoy while it's pretty! emoticon

We have even heard about the snow falls on our news. Keep safe and warm while enjoying.

Sounds lovely (despite the back and forth in the snow) - enjoy the skiing!

Warm and sunny here, just the way I like it!

Never seen that much freshly fallen snow at once. Three people have mentioned to me in the last week about how it muffles the sounds and creates an awesome atmosphere if you can get past the cold.

Glad you and DH made it home safely! Wow that is so much snow, easier to snowshoe on then cross country ski :PP. I am sure you did burn an incredible amount of calories!! But got to admit, its so much fun making the first tracks in new snow isn't it:))
