"Permission to be myself"

Saturday, February 09, 2013

"Let today be the day…You stand strong in the truth of your beauty, and journey through your day without attachment to the validation of others." ...:::thanks to my SP friend, Kal ( FITNHEALTHYKAL )....:::I borrowed this quote from her FEED. This quote spoke to my heart....setting it Free!

You never know what gems you might stumble upon here in Sparkland!

Right now I am maintaining my weight and making progress in other NSV areas, such as: increased running pace, lengthening my mileage, & simply ENJOYING the process! I am discovering that Balance has many faces.

I don't want to go-Go-GO, and find myself in a fitness robotic cycle...Life was meant to be ENJOYED.

..::::Can someone testify to this ?::::...

When I just go thru the motions, I find myself missing out on the "core" of fitness. That core for me is having a BLAST doing "it" fill in the blank for the "it". This is an easy rut to fall into. And, nope, I can't settle for that..:::blandness.

Fitness is powerful for me.

It is EM-powering, it is risky, it is full of heart and sweat, it is a picture of ME.
....::::these crazy characters inspire me...I LOVE bug-eyes. Lol. emoticon

True, I do ENJOY fitness to a T, but I really want to 'savor' the flavors - so to speak.
I want to ..:::Really:::... enjoy fitness I suppose in a more "mindful" way. LOL!! Recently, I have felt pushed, with hectic schedules & life that changes as rapidly as Texas weather. I was determined to maintain my daily fitness minute goals no matter what! Lol! And that's good too....staying committed and consistent.

Life changes on a daily basis. And that's OK. It's funny, but after reading Kal's quote, I realized I needed to give myself permission to change anything on my fitness routine as often as I wanted to.... funny how I hadn't realized how liberating this permission could be!

I am going to trade in the "I'm bound & determined to get my fitness DONE" to "I can't wait to try THIS later on today"! It's all about attitude, perspective and being relaxed....going with the flow of life in all it's Craziness.... & still smiling.

As I mentioned earlier, Balance has many faces....::: I am in the process of learning.

    Thanks for the thoughtful blog!

It is indeed so hard to balance and prioritize. Like you, I want my fitness/my health to just be a part of who I am, a part of my existence that will change and mature just like every other part of me. I have discovered that if I obsess about how many calories, what I'm eating, how much I'm working out etc. I completely burn out and then go overboard in the other direction. Now I'm paying attention to my body and my spirit to help me stay balanced in all areas.

Thanks again!

Laura, giving yourself this permission is loving yourself and your are beautiful inside and out. Celebrate and savor the joy you found in being passionate about fitness being FUNctional and loving it. Don't lose that joy or allow it to become drudgery. You are setting such a wonderful example for your children and family when in our society today this isn't the NORM of what children see. YOU are awesome! Celebrate and savor the person you are every single day sweetie!

P.S. Thank you.....

I just love Kal! She is so inspiring and I love the quotes she posts. A wise woman for sure and a real inspiration and motivator!

Isn't it great that the only one you need permission to be yourself from is yourself? You too, are a great motivator!
