My Journey to a New Me by Nan the Whoa-man!

Hopefully this will not be an a fictional exercise!

I am a 60+ woman living in central Canada with about as much zip as a snail. I need to lose 31 pounds just to get to the top of my range. These are my limitations: I have chronic fatigue hence the snail remark; I also have fibromyalgia and oh yes..... myalgia (not sure really why we must distinguish all this stuff but they feel necessary so I will go along with it! I also have a great back - one surgery already and priming for more. Actually, truthfully, I would like to skip that step and gain strength to help lessen my symptoms. Hey! That would be wonderful. However, if I get a pinched nerve and a synovia cyst they will HAVE to go in and rectify it. I also have some sort a thing that makes my legs like they just visited the dentist. So, I have a ton of issues that I must overcome to get on the treadmill and otherwise get active.

So, when did I begin this journey? I commited to it about a week and a half ago (today's date is the 9th of Februay, 2013). I know, my timing should have given me the flexibility of pigging out over Valentines Day but.....heh, that is so much more I will not have to lose. Besides, if I am going to be successful, I best have the ability to have the occasional day of choosing less healthy snacks and so forth. Life does go on in spite of our decisions to lose weight; stop smoking (I aced that way back in 2000! - read my profile on Quitnet.com in the name of Freedom4nan. It is a site much like this one that helps people achieve freedom from nicotine.). But I digress, I am here this time for my weight! No not the weight I gained when I quit smoking! I already lost them and put them back on! Smart people come back until they get it right. I am doing this AND Weight Watchers. I really want to succeed.

So, that is the beginning. My quest for a good life. My quest to get myself in control of my own body! Hey, I did it with smoking and I can do it with eating. It is called effort and I am telling you, this chickie is going to put out (ha!) lots of effort along the way. I am the epitomy of "A Journey begins with that first step".

Do come along with me. The best is yet to be. I promise I will certainly keep you entertained! I usually do.......... quite unintentionally, but I do!

    As a Canadian 60+ woman - I can relate...I have also re-commited to losing theexcesll poundage and know how hard it can be! We will do this!!!! emoticon I joined TOPS and am journalling and getting support here too! All the best in your jounrey to lose 31 lbs. I have 35 to go!!

    Way to go for committing to change!

You might do some searches of sit down exercises, hand weights, leg lifts, etc. I know there is a DVD called "Sit and Be Fit" that I got for my aunt who couldn't get on treadmill.
