sweetener detox

Saturday, February 09, 2013

So, I started the sweetener detox on Monday Feb. 4. It has been almost a full week now without any sweeteners in my diet, my biggest of which would be Diet Coke. Now I have tried to quit Diet Coke MANY times before on the simple notion that I drank too much, or that people said it was not good for you. But I had never done any research into it before. This time I did my research prior to quitting. I researched everything I could on sweeteners, on the many side effects, causes and diseases of sweeteners and how to detox from sweeteners.

I think getting this information allowed me to get a much better knowledge base allowing me success in this journey. Now I know I am only 6 days in. But in the past, I would have gone 1 day without Diet Coke and be craving to have one. This time, I am not even having the slightest inclination to have one.

Yes, I miss it. Yes, I know it will be hard to never have it again. But knowing that this will be the best for my health in the long range, I know it is easier to say "No".

As far as side effects go, migraine on one day, stomach ache and a general sense of not feeling well. Depressed, achy, feeling icky!

But it will all be worth it in the end!

Had same issue with Diet Soda which I drank in huge quanitities.
Have been doing well since I substituted flavored seltzer with no artificial sweetners at all......black berry my favorite

Also, when I go to restaurant always ask for lemon with my ice water and carry stevia with me and make lemonade has really helped me quite a bit when I have a yen for something other than water or tea or coffee.
