What does Retired mean, anyway?

Doesn't retired actually mean 'tired again'?
I retired from teaching in June 2011 at the age of 54. But I am NOT tired again and I did NOT retire from LIFE! Since my official 'retirement', my life has been filled with many more things, including subbing in the school district that I spent 32 years of my life! My friends encouraged me to continue to work with them even after retirement. I now work in THEIR classrooms on a pretty regular basis! I think one thing I like about subbing in my former school is that I know that school's routine, I know the people, and many of the students are children of students I once had! I feel the closeness and community spirit when I work there.
I think that is also why I like Spark People! Today when I weighed in, I have lost 12 pounds but "OFFICIALLY" on this site, I have lost 9! In a MONTH! My first "Monthaversary" with SP is on Monday. Now I think THAT is exceptional! For ME anyway. And why do I say that? Because after being in WW for a long time now, I have NEVER had a 6 week run with losses every weigh in. But now I am doing everything the healthy way...and tracking EVERYTHING has made the total difference! Something about being on SP makes me feel like I am being supported! Now don't get me wrong, the people at WW are VERY supportive, and I LOVE talking to them, and they encourage me to track daily too, but this site is with me any time I need it, in the comfort of my own home, and if I NEED help...there is some sort of article or blog I can read that will help motivate me again! Not only that, the tracking here is EASY for me, and much like a GAME! So I am intrigued and excited to get put my food in the tracker, and then look at the little pie chart to see what percentage of food was protein, fat, carbohydrates, and see what I can eat the next time to make it better! AND ...I really DO know what that 'something' is! First of all, people have a chance to support me after writing something sweet on my blogs, (Thank you by the way, you don't realize how helpful they are!...or maybe you do!) Second, having a Spark Coach to check in with each day has kept me motivated throughout the week! The videos and the video coaches are encouraging, too!
So I don't feel 'retired' at all!
