First I have to say I was shocked to see I had a 'featured blog' award. I had to see what I got it on. Really the 'simple goal' one? The one about my dang skittles.
A girl can loose 60+ lbs, hike 1000, of miles, run 4 half marathons in one year, bike ride all over the place and do a triathlon. All while blogging about it quietly to herself, and the world.
Then she admits to a silly simple little struggle that shouldn't even be a struggle the dang bag of skittles... and 'poof' she's a featured blog. Gotta love it.
Now I feel obligated to do a follow up blog about the skittles. It's kind of funny.
I was successful all week I had not one skittle! WIN for me! Most of the days it was easy. I even got the staff in the classroom on board with no skittles. Friday was a hard day. One of the kids I was working with had 3 melt downs. I was having a 'blue day'. Just dreading the day for some reason. I was hungry cause my snack failed me.
I wanted skittles!!!
I told my co worker that I was hungry and it was an hour until lunch. She looked at me and said very load "NO SKITTLES!" All the kids look at us and I put on a show for them. They are laughing. Now all the kids know I'm not to have any skittles.
I survived the day!
Last night I had a dream. I was at work and the class was in complete chaos. All the kids where having melt downs the staff wasn't able to control it much. I was found hiding in the back corner of the room. (an area we call the brake space) I had the whole costco bag of skittles and I was stuffing them into my mouth by the handfuls!
Lesson I learned is that the skittle have taken the place of a stress eating food. When I get stress I "chew". (not tobacco) I chew on ice, I use to chew gum, I have been chewing on the skittles. Talk about empty calories. YIKES.
So now the mission is what can I 'chew' while stressed at work that has no calories. Problem with gum is I also have to snap it. I can't help it, so gum won't work at school.
