It's not healthy?

Isn't it funny how you make a food choice thinking it is healthy, only to find out that it isn't? I was forced to eat out the other day because I didn't have enough time between going from my full time job to my part time job to be able to go home and eat. So, I decided I would go to Subway and get one of their low fat subs. I chose the Sweet Onion Chicken teriyaki on 6-inch Oat bread with no cheese and lots of vegi's. I had apple slices and unsweetened ice tea. When I got home that night and logged my meal, I discovered that while it was low fat, it was very high in carbs, so it really threw off my carbs for the day. I guess I should have known better than to have something with sweet in the title. Oh well, live and learn.

    Yeah, sub sandwich bread is definitely thick and high carb. So much bread in those slices! Wraps are sometimes even higher in calories though, so they aren't always a good option. I actually learned recently that Jimmy John's (if you have those in your area) will do lettuce wrap versions of any of their sandwiches - rather than a bread wrap or sandwich bread, the sandwich filling is just wrapped up in lettuce. Now, it's the same price as if you'd gotten bread, which seems silly to me (shouldn't it be cheaper???) but it's still a good idea to offer that to customers, I think. Anyways, glad you're not worrying too much about it. As you say, live and learn. You certainly could have eaten MUCH worse food!

    Ditto the bread.

But just think, it could have been even worse had you not tried to make a good conscious decision. So kudos for that! emoticon

    Ok, its a SUB! All that bread has lotsa carbs---opt for a salad next time!

However, not sure about your weight loss journey or your low-carb goals, however, sometimes after being low carb for an extended period of time, if you are plateauing, eating carbs can help you get off your plateau.

So--don't stress the sub!!
