A New Workout Valentines Day Gift!

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

Saturday, February 09, 2013

Today is day 43 of my current streak! (Previous streaks; 290 days and 13 days.)

Valentines day is coming, and in the past I always looked forward to getting the traditional Valentines day gifts.....such as a dozen roses and a fancy heart shaped box of chocolates. The bigger and fancier the box of chocolates was, the better! It always seemed like such a romantic thing to me.

Things have changed this year! We are on a tight budget now. But a couple of weeks ago, hubby mentioned Valentines day and asked if I wanted a box of chocolates. I answered that with a great big NO THANK YOU! I don't want a box of chocolates and a dozen roses, or anything like that. Nope, this year I wanted a new workout!

So hubby told me to decide what I wanted, and said he would get it for me if he could. I have been wondering about kettle bell workouts, so when I found a beginners kettle bell workout for a reasonable price, I decided that I wanted to try it out!

This is the one I got...it comes with 2 kettle bells (3 lbs and 5 lbs), plus a workout DVD with 4 workouts;

www.amazon.com/Kathy-Smi
th-05-3005-Kettlebell-Solu
tion/dp/B002Y2SUYK

I thought this would be a great starter workout for me to see if I really liked this type of workout. The price was reasonable, and it will last a lot longer than a dozen roses or a box of Godiva chocolates!

Hubby ordered the workout for me, and it arrived last Wednesday. Unfortunately, I was sidelined by back pain and unable to workout, but I watched all the workouts on the DVD and I liked what I saw. I think this workout will be a good addition to my regular workout, DDP Yoga. It was hard not to just jump right in and start doing the workout, but I didn't want to hurt my back anymore than it was already hurting, so I forced myself to wait.

Well, my back is feeling better, so this morning I got up and tried out my new workout...and I really liked it! I think as I get better, I will like it more and more. Who knows? Maybe in time I will get heavier kettle bells and more workouts. The workout I did this morning was for upper body, and it raised my heart rate and made me sweat a little.

So I got my Valentines Day gift a little early. It might not seem like the most romantic gift in the world, but its exactly what I wanted!

Always appreciative of the practical gift. Chocolate is eaten and flowers die. Yours is the gift that keeps on giving.

Good for you pixie! No chocolate! Good choice of a new workout. I got myself a very inexpensive piece of workout equipment too. A jump rope!!! It is a lot of fun, and really builds endurance. Have fun!

Glad you are feeling better and what a great idea for a Valentines Day Gift!!! What better way to say I love and support you than to
A: Ask if you would like chocolates instead of getting them as a potential diet disaster
and
B. A Hubby (or loved one) who is thinking of how much they love and support you in your streak!!!
Added bonus, you have found something new to incorporate into your exercise routine that you like!!!

Glad you are feeling better. I love the idea that your hubby got you work out stuff for Valentine's Day!! Every year I always get chocolate and that's obviously exactly what I don't want. I'm thinking of getting the Coach Nicole DVD. Maybe I'll drop some hints. Enjoy but don't over do. Take care of yourself!! Love all of your motivational hearts too!! emoticon

I do have a Kathy Smith KB work out as well. And I love them. The kB is so cute and easy to handle. But more you used to it, you might want to get bit heavier bell. KB work out is not just for arms but it is so good for your entire body. For me I feels Much easier and better handling then dumbbell . I will recommends KB work out for anyone who want to get cardio and strength training at same time.

I like the way you think. Many years ago I asked for rose bushes instead of the florist's rose arrangement. That way there were roses for many years.
