A New Workout Valentines Day Gift!

Today is day 43 of my current streak! (Previous streaks; 290 days and 13 days.)

Valentines day is coming, and in the past I always looked forward to getting the traditional Valentines day gifts.....such as a dozen roses and a fancy heart shaped box of chocolates. The bigger and fancier the box of chocolates was, the better! It always seemed like such a romantic thing to me.

Things have changed this year! We are on a tight budget now. But a couple of weeks ago, hubby mentioned Valentines day and asked if I wanted a box of chocolates. I answered that with a great big NO THANK YOU! I don't want a box of chocolates and a dozen roses, or anything like that. Nope, this year I wanted a new workout!

So hubby told me to decide what I wanted, and said he would get it for me if he could. I have been wondering about kettle bell workouts, so when I found a beginners kettle bell workout for a reasonable price, I decided that I wanted to try it out!

This is the one I got...it comes with 2 kettle bells (3 lbs and 5 lbs), plus a workout DVD with 4 workouts;

tion/dp/B002Y2SUYK

I thought this would be a great starter workout for me to see if I really liked this type of workout. The price was reasonable, and it will last a lot longer than a dozen roses or a box of Godiva chocolates!

Hubby ordered the workout for me, and it arrived last Wednesday. Unfortunately, I was sidelined by back pain and unable to workout, but I watched all the workouts on the DVD and I liked what I saw. I think this workout will be a good addition to my regular workout, DDP Yoga. It was hard not to just jump right in and start doing the workout, but I didn't want to hurt my back anymore than it was already hurting, so I forced myself to wait.

Well, my back is feeling better, so this morning I got up and tried out my new workout...and I really liked it! I think as I get better, I will like it more and more. Who knows? Maybe in time I will get heavier kettle bells and more workouts. The workout I did this morning was for upper body, and it raised my heart rate and made me sweat a little.

So I got my Valentines Day gift a little early. It might not seem like the most romantic gift in the world, but its exactly what I wanted!

    EXCELLENT! You my dear girl are a GO GETTER! Just saying the words box of Godiva Chocolates made my mouth water. I dearly love chocolate as do most women I think. i've actually heard of a very few who don't like it. Crazy aren't they.:D
But I'm with you on this streak we are on and no way will allow temptation to get the upper hand with me. God is my witness.
LOVE YOU AND YOUR TENACITY.

    That is so awesome. I love kettlebells. They are a fun workout and you find muscles you didn't know you had doing it. That's awesome that hubby was able to get that for you. I love the idea of that instead of flowers and a box of chocolates.

    What a great gift and great hubby!! I have chosen to not have cut roses as well. They are beautiful but they die so I asked my hubby to plant some roses in our yard and we look at them every day in the spring & summer. My gift this year is taking hometown friends to our Valentine dinner & entertainment with us as they are visiting in the Rio Grande Valley near us and we will have a wonderful visit!!

    I think people put a lot of pressure on gift giving that is not needed. People should give gifts because they want to, not because it's expected. I think your husband's gift was very cool because he wanted to give you something that helped your new habits and stayed in the budget, and you got something longer lasting than flowers and candy that you really liked.

Well done DH!

    I think it is a wonderful gift, last year my husband got me a heart rate monitor. Maybe not traditional gifts but it shows they support us and want us to be healthy what more could a girl want, and best of all you will enjoy your gift for years to come !

Glad your back is better. Enjoy your new workout and have a wonderful Valentine's Day and every day.
