Lots of plants to get in the ground and still a little more weeding to do to have the garden shipshape. Yesterday we got out the chainsaw, always a risk as I tend to think, hmm, what else can go? We took out some opportunistic karakas, which self seed everywhere on our place. Usually I get them while they are young but when they get to a certain size They become part of the undergrowth. Anyway now have revealed some more structure to the garden and new beds to fine weed and plant with shade loving plants.
So far three trips to the dump, maybe two more to go today and only the fine weeding to go. Hard to believe that there is an end in sight, but there is! I should have all but the area near our front door weeded and maybe planted by the end of Tuesday. My back is a bit sore but all my Zumba squats and resistance work in the pool have paid off big time for my gardening sessions, where I have found I am moving with ease, getting up and down in a seemly fashion with no need for leverage, and managing 5-7 hour days with only surprise that it is time to finish up for the day.
Ooh but my poor hands are so dry, despite gloves, and the lotions allowed on the Cura Romana are no match for my lovely gardeners hand cream that I can't use until pahse 1 is finished in only eight more days.
Then, let the pampering begin!
