Reason/Excuses as to why it hasn't worked in the past

Assignment 6: List YOUR reasons/excuses on why YOUR diets and exercise plans have not been well executed in the past. OK that might be too long a list, so give 3 or 4 reasons and for each write a strategy that will keep you on track for 8 weeks. Let's learn from our past behaviors and make this our best Challenge ever!

1. I self sabotage - I lose weight, then get sick of all the work it's taking and go back to doing it the easy way (not caring)
Fix: Reward myself with a new book, new clothes, or day out for losing weight.
2. I absolutely hate counting calories - It causes me so much frustration to have to stop and count calories before eating or at the end of the day, or creating a food plan complete with calorie counts every day.
Fix: Remember Dave Ramsey's saying: "Adults devise a plan and follow it, children do what feels good." This mantra helped me to get out of debt, and I am hoping that it will help me with weight loss. Fact is, when I do track calories, I lose weight. Just doing these assignments has made me realize that thinking I can just wing it and make healthier choices without tracking isn't going to get me closer to my goals. I am going to have to do what works no matter how frustrating it is. I will follow up doing the "adult thing" with doing something fun like reading or taking pictures of playing a game with my daughter or cat.
3. I'm too fat to exercise - It hurts, it wears me out, and its disheartening to see what all I CAN'T do.
Fix: I am going to put some time in to figuring out what I CAN do. I know I CAN dance. It may not look the way I want it to, but I CAN move. I know I CAN walk. I can make it a habit to park further away from the stores. I CAN also make it a habit to make a lap around any store before I do my actual shopping. I know I CAN do Wii Sports and other games that get you up and moving.

    I have to careful of myknees and hip, due to arthritis, but I have found I CAN get on my exercise bike and get a good cardio workout without stressing the joints toomuch. I can also do some of Spark's seated workouts (check out their videos!) It IS tiring to track calories at times, but it does help tremendously!
We CAN do this!
