Keep Going

"If you are tired, keep going; if you are scared, keep going; if you are hungry; keep going; if you want to taste freedom, keep going."
~ Harriet Tubman

Keep going. That seems to be what dear Harriet is saying, doesn't it? Regardless what happens, simply keep going.

I was walking my dogs last evening and one of them kept stopping. Whenever I shortened her leash because the situation was unsafe for her if she ventured to far, I shortened her leash. When I shortened, she stopped. And that stopped me and the other dog. We weren't so happy with her.

My dog is very strong willed. When she doesn't get her way, she stops. She won't move another step. She becomes one with the earth. All evening long, I pondered her actions. I think that I'm not as stubborn as she is, but when I don't get my way, I can become stubborn as well.

I think I will keep Harriet Tubman's words in mind. Keep going. Drop the stubborn streak. Find a way to keep going. It really does seem to have many more rewards.

My little Tapp'er Toes is stubborn too. You can learn a lot from a dog. LOL Here's hoping you win the leash battle.

Hmm...yes, keep going...Is this an older dog or just a very timid one? Perhaps you could walk them separately or even try some agility courses to increase confidence in the one that stops. Treats and positive reinforcement are good, too.
