HAHAHA! Telling *me* to work out?! LMAO

Friday, February 08, 2013

Smile. I am on day 405 of my exercise streak. In 2012 I averaged 45 minutes a day (some days much less, some much more...but something every day).

This January I averaged 51 minutes per day.

So, I started aikido in December.

This past week the teacher was sick so tonight I emailed him to see if there will be class in the morning. He said that if he still feels under the weather he will come unlock the door and let the brown belts lead class. He ended by saying, "You should plan to work out tomorrow."

It just struck me as hilarious! Dude, I work out EVERY day. :) I may not be the strongest, the fastest or the most gymnastic. But I am consistent. Problem is, martial arts is not my main sport. Running is where my heart is. But for many of the guys at the dojo (my husband included), martial arts IS their main deal.

And they want it to be YOUR main deal too.

I wish someone had explained that to me before I signed a contract.

I got hurt AGAIN last week. Again, trying to front roll. This time, I fell over and rolled my body weight on my own arm. It's been a week and it still hurts to touch the area. Joint movement is fine though, muscle movement is fine.

I just don't know if I want to continue getting hurt once a month or more if this continues.

I promised myself to give it a good 3 month effort before deciding whether to continue. That will be the end of March.

Here's my latest injury (elbow):

Holy smokes! I don't know why you go back to the dojo. You are going to break something.

I am in awe of your exercise streak.

Your consistency is inspiring as is your willingness to try new disiplines. Glad that movement isn't effected by your injury, and I hope the pain fades quickly. emoticon

Ha! I've tried a few over the years -and you're right.

Sparkers are always saying "Don't beat yourself up."This time you can take it literally. :)

    Ouch! That looks painful!

Isn't it funny when people say things like that?!?! Without even asking what your normal routine is, just assuming. LOL. Great job on an awesome streak!

working out is good, and you are doing well, but not to the point of getting hurt. i tried martial arts and tai chi. as out of balance as i am, tai chi is best for me. otherwiae, i'd be getting hurt too.
