I live in Manhattan NYC and there is a blizzard coming. Earlier in the day, I was weighing my options given that the snow wasn't coming down too hard yet.... go to the gym or go home because I don't feel like spending time outside. (Basically, I greatly dislike winter and the old me would rush home to the comfort of her warm apartment and bed).
I ended up choosing the former, and got in a great workout session. I'm not advocating going out in dangerous weather conditions because of exercise. What I am saying is I used my judgment, saw that while the snow was coming down, I was worth trudging my way through the snow to get my workout in. This may not seem like a big deal, but it is to me. On a snowy day, I decided to go the gym and get my exercise in. This is an accomplishment and I feel good about myself today.
It makes me realize that every little step counts, and we should pat ourselves on the back when we make good healthy life decisions. I will pat myself on the back when I eat within my calorie range. I will pat myself on the back when I get to the gym. I will pat myself on the back when I get in one more rep, or stay for one more minute on a cardio machine. I will pat myself on the back when I I eat my food vices (ice cream, cake, etc) in their portion sizes. I will pat myself on the back every time I recreate a recipe to suit my healthy life goals (I do this often, so fun!).
Basically, I will celebrate this process because I know it's taking me somewhere. SO excited for my current and future selves!
