Closet athlete or insane...that's the question I'm asking myself these days!
Everyone knows I'm a CrossFitter....
What started out as an arse-kicking workout to get me conditioned for my obstacle race, has become my latest mid-life obsession! ;-) (I never knew I had an addictive or obsessive personality until I started CF...the things we learn about ourselves! LOL!)
In 6 months, I have seen a tremendous change in my endurance and strength ... not to mention my body's metamorphosis! But the most not-so-noticeable change is in my competitiveness! At first, my goal was just to finish any given WOD. Then, it was to complete it within the prescribed time. Next, I didn't want to be the last one to finish...followed by wanting to come in under the time Pete thought I would be done. ;-) Now, I want to beat all my previous times!!!
Which is why at 46 (soon to be 47) I am contemplating participating in this year's CrossFit Games Open.
I'm not thinking about participating with the hopes of reaching the CF Games Finals in CA...not even to make the Regionals...but to see where I rank in my age category in the overall international CF community! Plus, competing will ensure that I ramp up my training (yeah, like going from a slow crawl to warp speed! Lol.)...which will serve me well when it comes time for my obstacle race.
The 1st Game WOD of the Open is scheduled for March 10...giving me about a month to prepare. This should be interesting!
Like I said...closet athlete OR insane!?!
