Well, it's official, I'm 33 and I feel great!! I took my birthday off, it was my first time taking that day off in my whole life. I think it will be a new tradition, it was wonderful. Mom took the day off and my sister was already off, so my Mom suggested that we go to Point Reyes for a hike. When we got there, it was gorgeous and I felt great instantly. There were many hikes available some about the 3 mile range and a few over 10 miles, we settled on the 8.2 hike. It was a challenge for me. I've never walked 8 miles in one day, especially not with hills included! I was up to 6 miles last year, but that was usally broken up into two sessions, and all on flat land. I must admit, by the last 2 miles I was whining a little, not too bad, but I was quite beat. But it was so worth it.
About 3.5 miles in, my sister is in the lead!!
End of Arch Rock hike, ocean galore!
Wild thing tree we saw on the walk back
We really had a great day together, I feel so lucky to have such wonderful family members that know just what to do to make my birthday special.
I am still doing my FFL eating experiment, and I must admit, I love it. I lost another pound, so that is a 7 pound loss for this week. My energy level is really high, and I am loving my meals. My Mom got me a blender/food processor for my birthday, so I have been making fruit smoothies, which makes my fruity breakfasts even better, and portable! I went through the recipes in the back of the FFL book and have so many great options to choose from that my head is swimming with what next weeks meals will look like. This week so far my lunches have been pretty simple, but so delicious. I am finally eating fruit/veg at every meal, and not just one item, but multiple things. I feel like something has really clicked for me, finally, with my never ending eating dilema. After all the years eating fast food, because I was too starved/lazy to plan a decent meal....... I really hope those days are over. What feels really great on the FFL plan is that if I want meat, I eat it, just not with anything but veggies, if I want carbs, I do the same thing. It seems so great, because I feel like I can eat what I want, with a few tweaks to the ingredients here and there. Also, I've been finding tons of recipes on Pinterest that follow my new dietary needs, which is inspiring because I feel if I get tired of veggie sandwiches and salads, I can branch out. I found a cauliflower crackers recipe the other day that sounds fun. I'm going to make a lentil or split pea soup this week, looking forward to that.
So, for now, all is well. Can't think of anything to complain about........that's rare!! Hope my little "experiment" continues to go well, I have a feeling it will, but you never know what tomorrow holds?!! Hugs, and luvies!!
