Challenges and Opportunities

Friday, February 08, 2013

Ok. So I am winding up my second week. I weigh in tomorrow morning. I didn't get to exercise as much this week... seems like something was going on every day. One day I had to stay around the house all day just so my car would be available for a parts runner because my bf was working on his truck. I wish the civic center opened before noon... I wouldn've gotten more exercise in if I had the option to go early in the morning.
I did my grocery shopping for the month this week. I've been getting Sunday papers just to clip the coupons for the last few weeks. I found that using coupons still does not bring the price of name brand foods down enough to compete with the prices at Aldi..unless an item is already on sale and I can use the coupon on the sale item- and sometimes even then Aldi is cheaper. I've also learned that Aldi doesn't offer much in the way of health food. Not many low fat options, if any. They did offer the fit & active shreaded cheese, but not in the variety I needed for my Spark Recipe. They did not offer low fat mayo. And they did not have whole grain/wheat pasta. I didn't see many low sodium options either. Being that I am on a food budget of $150 per month for a family of 4, there's not much I could do about it. I had to go with Aldi on most things. I did stop by Food Lion to get an eggplant for a recipe I wanted to try and a few other items that Aldi did not have at all. Ended up going over on my budget. Thank goodness my federal refund was deposited this morning.. or I may have had to borrow money to get the bills paid this month.
I recieved a job offter this week as well. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but it's a step up from where I am now. It's a temp to perm position. I'm a little worried about how well I'm going to adjust to my new schedule in order to stick with what I am doing here. I want to... so I'm going to find a way to do it. I just worry about how difficult it might be to do. Other's are doing it though, so I'm sure I will too. I am going to have to drive about 45 minutes to work each morning and again on my way home each evening. This is going to cut a big chunk of time out of my day that might otherwise be for exercise. I will figure something out though. I am still hopeful that I may recieve a job offer from a seond company that I interviewed with. It would be much more convenient... but I won't know for another week or so about that.

@ CRYSTLE4HIMTX12, that is $150 per month. Yeah. So it's been a challenge to stretch those dollars. We have a friend that will sometimes take us out to eat or bring take out over. He does this a few times a month. That helps out a lot too...with the money end -not so much with the calorie end. He usually prefers KFC or Japanese food. I just try to eat less. He's paying, we get what he wants to bring ya know. I can't complain, it is very nice of him to do it.
Anyway, I'm hoping the job will work out too. It will sure put us in a better place. I feel pretty optimistic about it. :) Thanks!
