What an up and down day for me. emoticon

First, I lost my internet (for a few hours) last evening so could not find out if the center where I take Tai Chi would be open this morning-
schools are closed as we are experiencing a blizzard- expecting 2-3 ft of snow before it all ends at noon on Saturday-
as it turns out it was closed so glad I didn't get up early needlessly to go. emoticon

Then the professor's SIL called me at about 9 to say they were in the ER with him after a fall this morning.
The good doctor is 98 (nearly 99) and we have known for some time that his next trip to the hospital would likely be his last. emoticon
Even if he recovers from this event, he will probably be sent to a skilled nursing care facility and would likely never be released to go home.
He has had a wonderful life but he seems like he has been ready to meet his maker for some time.
I'll keep you posted but as of now I am unemployed.

I took advantage of the storm's slow start to get a good workout in -
I've been laid low all week by a bad cold and finally feeling better. emoticon
Well, I was more than ready for it!
I did 20 min of HIIT on the elliptical,
and then another 25 min of HIIT on the treadmill,
followed by 30 min of ST,
including my beloved kettlebells,
ending with some ab work and a loooooong stretching session-
so 115 minutes altogether,
burning just over 1000 calories,
according to my heart rate monitor. emoticon
Came home and ate a huge carb and protein packed lunch and am looking at the pretty snow making real yeast cinnamon rolls "for the family". emoticon

See what I mean about my up and down day?

Sure hope my sparkbud, Helene, got off on her dream vacation to Barbados with ChefKat this morning!
Wish I was THERE, don't you?
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Although, that reminds me, I believe it's been some time since I bragged about my vacation home on the beautiful island of Anguilla.
I will be going there mid-July, hopefully with my grandkids and their parents.

So sorry to hear of the professor's fall. It is so hard to recover from something like that at his age. My MIL had a bad fall at age 97 and that did her in. I will pray for his recovery.

I'm sorry to hear about the Professor, and sorry too that you are now unemployed. I'm sure you'll get another similar job though soon.

Wish I could have some of your homemade cinnamon rolls - I love cinnamon rolls from when I lived in the US. We can't buy them here and I never make them because DH is not keen on cinnamon.

I hope you're ok in this storm I've been seeing on the news. I think Helene and Kathleen must have just got away in time.

Take care.

So sorry to hear of the professor's fall and that this may mean you'll no longer be able to go there. That he's been able to stay at home til now has been a blessing for him... and you, too, in the form of pleasant work environment...

Am forever amazed at your exercise!! Indeed, true lows and true highs today!
Saw on the news a while ago that lots of people in RI are without power and hope you're not among the numbers.

Oh no!! The professor is failing. Well, no one is immortal...except vampires.
Sorry to hear you are unemployed, but I'm sure it won't last.
We are on the edge of that blizzard and I braved it and went to town today to the gym, for groceries and to have a much needed massage.
Have a great weekend!

I'm glad you're feeling better, and significantly enough to scorch all of those calories today!

So sorry to hear about the professor, and that you are now unemployed. You have been a godsend to that family, and enabled him to stay in his home for a long time, much longer, probably, than the family expected. I hope that he isn't suffering, and I'm sure he would rather be in his home than in hospital.

Sorry to hear about the professor - so sad! And glad you are feeling so much better that you got in that great workout - well done!! We're dealing with a nasty storm - the worst in 5 years - over 700 flights have been cancelled at our major airport and Helene is farther north of us. She'll certainly appreciate the warmer weather when she gets there, but it might not be today. Yum, yum, real home-made yeast cinnamon buns - lucky family!!!

Sorry to hear about the professor! But am glad he has reconciled himself to the "inevitable."

I am in the Boston area visiting DD, SIL, and first granddaughter Rebecca. We too are hunkered down! We won't be able to leave tomorrow as we had planned, but hopefully Sunday morning.

My daughter has been so great about letting us hold the baby. Rebecca is 2 weeks old and weighed 5 lbs. 7 ounces at her doctor's appointment today, so -- you can imagine that she spends 99.9% of her time in someone's arms!!! emoticon
