1st 5K! and other musings

Friday, February 08, 2013

I signed up for my first 5K! I'm doing a color run, "Color me RAD", with a friend from the office in April. Basically, you run on a track at a local stadium and people throw powdered color bombs on you with each lap. People go nuts and wear all white and get the full effect of all the color bombs thrown. I think I will buy a plain white shirt. I'm most likely not wearing white pants. All the cardio I'm doing now should help, especially after I get my bike next week. It's still too cold for me to go walking or running outside, I hate the cold! I will, however, start going to the track after I get back from spring vacation and that gives me about a month before the race.

For anyone interested in doing the 5k in their area, see this link for the many many locations:http://www.colormera

On to other musings.

Another member's blog got me thinking, what would my life be like in 5 years in a perfect world? What would I look like? How would I eat? What would my habits be?

Life will be well. My career will be on track, I will have made partner in my firm. My daughter will be off to the college of her dreams doing something she loves. She will be a happy healthy girl. I will weigh between 130 lbs and 140 lbs (according to BMI calculations, I should weigh 120 but I'm not so sure I want to go or stay there, we'll see). I will eat the stuff I eat now with a few more types of veggies added in, (I just added kale). I will know my maintenance calorie range and I will stick to it. I think I will still be tracking my food, by then, I should be so good at it , it will be second nature. I will be living an active lifestyle and working out 5-6 times per week. I'm generally happy now, I will be generally happy then.

What about you? Imagine, in a perfect world, what will your life be like in 5 years? What will that look like? What will you look like? How will you eat? What will your habits be?

I read that blog too and really liked it. I've done that in the past and was successful the last time I did that. I need to revisit that dream. The older my daughter gets, the more she needs a fit Mommy instead of the one she has currently. The race you are doing sounds like fun! Hope you have a good time.

What an awesome first 5K idea for you! I'm sure it will be a lot of fun.

5 years in a perfect world for me...I would be teaching a high school business or marketing education class and adviser for the school FBLA club. B and I would be living together with most of my cats (I would have found great homes for the others), either in his current town or the halfway point between our homes. I would be actively participating in triathlons and would weigh about 160. I'd bike, swim, and run 5-6 days a week, with hiking added during the warmer months. I'd be healthy and happy.

Sounds like you're on a great path. Thanks for the thought. I'll have to ponder that and then blog on my life in 5 years.
