Yesterday I had eaten very very well through dinner, though as I look back, I probably TOO much underate given the intensity of my workout. So like a good clean eater, and as my lower carb plan would have, I went and made an evening protein shake, since I am trying to keep carbs to just veggies from dinner on. Well that didn't do it so a little later I went for some whole wheat pita and hummus. And let me just say, WOW. I heard you loud and clear body. I woke up this morning bloated and girgly, and CRAVING carbs. Not just bread, but sugar! What happened?
I was proud of myself for getting to the hummus instead of the Captain Crunch or having a couple granola bars (hello sugar). Yet this morning, I see that too much carbs in ANY form for me will bring on cravings and bloating.
So I am glad this happened, because it has taught me more about my body. Although I woke up this morning hoping for a donut, I had my eggbeats with spinach and whole wheat toast. However this time, I had two open faced, which I think will help my calorie level be more consistent with my workouts - and cut back on any late evening cravings.
And my body was very clear, late night food, ANY carb, does not sit well. I'm flushing out with lots of water and coffee right now, and I've got a kick a$$ workout in mind to make last night kind of a "carb load." But I guess from now on, I must up my calories with breakfast and lunch so I am not so hungry around dinner. And if I am, PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN, and maybe some fat. But carbs, BEWARE!
