Day 34: Six apples

Friday, February 08, 2013

I am getting frustrated at this "great campout." My weight hasn't budged in 2 weeks! Normally that's enough to send me into a tailspin, but with the weight loss challenge, I'm forced to just look at another strategy. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, or my body is just used to the new pattern now.

Back in the 80s, my mom was in this same situation and went to her doctor. She said, "No matter what I do, I can't lose any more weight." He told her to eat six apples the next day. "Six apples!? That's it?" And he said yes. He was looking to shock her system, break up her routine, and hit the reset button. So she did it -- and it worked! She dropped another 2 pounds.

Why I've never done this, I have no idea. But I'm now at that point where it sounds just crazy enough to try it. Just one problem - there's a winter storm outside and I don't have six apples. But I DO have six low calorie protein shakes...so we're going to be close friends today.

The tipping point was reading an article on metabolism in Dr. Oz's newsletter yesterday. If you don't get them in your inbox, consider browsing his site. There's some really great stuff there.

Oh my friend! I've been stuck for 3 weeks. I know how you feel. Quite honestly, I'm not giving up because I know you're not giving up. I've removed the option of giving up from my mind. I know at my current calorie range it's going to move. We have to be patient. If there is no change again by Sunday, I'm going to zig zag my calories. It worked for me in the past to break a plateau. If the apples don't work, give it a try.

I just listened to the posted link from Dr. Oz. I jotted that information down for my next Dr.'s visit. I believe that we need more thorough testing.. Information is the key to success.

Thanks Janice, I just read the Dr. Oz link too... hmmm I am not sure what I want to try... I do think I need to increase my calories some. I've been eating on the low side of my "range" this week to try and get a loss and that's not helping...
emoticon maybe I need to shock my system too.

I'll keep you posted. Stay warm in this crazy storm! Is your "tent" weather proofed? lol

Your body is just being stubborn. I feel like you have a devil and an angel on your shoulder.

emoticon The devil is laughing saying "I know she'll cave in."

emoticon and the angel is saying "Come on we're almost over this test hump, stay in there"

Listen to the angel.
