Looking In

Friday, February 08, 2013

Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams . Who looks inside , awakens. " Carl Jung

Do you want to be happier ? Who doesn't. If you want to be happy you need to search. You cannot search for outside things to make you happy. The latest techno-gadget or fall fashion just won't cut it for long. Stop looking at others to keep you happy because we all know that doesn't last long. People are just people.

If We want to be happy we need to look IN. We need to find a quiet corner free from distractions and look in. Think of what makes us happy now, and what will later.

Do you love your job than you are very lucky. Just because you love your job does not mean you can stop growing ,take a class, meet new friends . Look for new tasks, opportunities and challenges. Expand your mind and heart yes at your job.

If you don't like your job, time to move on but take a good look in first, find what you want to do. Look in a new direction. The job market is very tough now but not impossible.

If you are stuck at a not to challenging job like me their is hope. My company has outstanding benefits . I have been here for 34 years. I had to take this job for health reasons . But I am an auditor I open cartons up to look at the product and make sure the orders are right .Yawn. Yawn and Yawn some more.

What do I do about my yawning problem. I sign up for any group I get a chance to. I was the heath care ambassador one year. I have worked on the safety committee, and I just worked with the ergonomics committee on something to make my job easier. I reach out to other departments when I see ideas to help them expand. At home I take classes that my job gives us access to for free, to help my mind grow. I look for ways to make me happy.

If you are unhappy ni your home life than look for things that you can do to make it better. Sometimes just adding candles to a dingy old room can change your perspective.
Ignore the people you can't change .Learn to delegate more and yell less. Look at your spouses good points and less at their bad. Hang your wedding picture in a prominent place and look at it often. It is a great motivator.

Life is to short not to be happy. Go for walks , exercise , eat healthier, read more, spend more time alone, and your moods and outlook will improve to help you look in to find what truly makes you happy.

Very true, we are in charge of our own happiness and contentment. If you don't like something, see what factors you can change. This simple philosphy led me to a differnt career path than what I was originally planning a mere 5 years ago. Though I am still in school, I enjoy my classes and time doing my job.

So very true. Although my new little gadget IS making me pretty happy right now, but it is helping me be healthier, so it works hand in hand. :)

I have been so much happier in the last 6 months than I have ever been in my life. It is an amazing feeling. Now just for the acquiring of a job, and I think I would really be on cloud 9.

Great blog full of good advise. I especially like the one about finding positives in your spouse and displaying your wedding picture. My hubby and I have been married nearly 20 years but do not have our wedding picture on the wall. I think I'll make getting a picture blown up and framed a goal for this month! Not only does it remind me of the wonderful man I married and how much I love him, but also how good I looked thinner (and can look again!!!!)

If you're not, make a change in yourself, because that is where it originates. No one can "make " you happy, only you!

I love those pointers in the last paragraph of your blog entry. I follow all of those. I'm sure from what you say of your job activities that you are a valued employee. In addition to the benefits, I hope they compensate you well. Best of luck, Glenn
