So, I'm going to start with a bit of a gross topic that has been on my mind a lot thanks to the news. There has been a horse meat scandal in the UK and Ireland. First horse meat was found in some frozen burgers from one of the biggest grocery stores here. Then it expanded further to other brands and other stores. Now it's been found in some frozen lasagna. Now, since moving to Ireland I've not really been one for eating frozen meat products. But now it's sort of put me off buying meat in the store at all. Thank god for local butchers. I know going into a butcher I can ask where they got the meat from and it won't be "oh some factory out in (insert name here)." Instead it will be Billy Mack's farm in Wexford. (I pulled a name out of my rear)
If you're in the UK or Ireland here are the brands to avoid right now:
Tesco
Aldi
Findus
Burger King
So, now that I've got that out of the way it's Fun Friday!!! Woo!
My first, and only workout this week is going to be today. So on top of doing something fun I'll be doing some stretching, yoga, and a gentle 20 minute workout. So, my fun this week is going to be learning the dance from LMFAO's song Party Rock Anthem. I'm so sad I didn't take the chance to see them performing in Germany last year at a free concert. And now they've broken up so I never will.
We had Chinese take out for dinner last night. I had broccoli/beef in bean sauce on a bed of egg fried rice. Was it healthy? Nah. But it was a nice treat after a long day that I ended up basically sleeping through, though I was awake all day. I ended up going to bed at 10. I was so tired I was amazed I made it that far.
My thoughts today are with everyone in Southern California, particularly those in Corona, a town I lived in for a couple of years growing up and Riverside, where I have several family members. Please be on the alert today, police are on edge and a dangerous man is out there.
Anyone on the East Coast of the US please take care the next few days. A friend of mine from Ireland is stranded in New York for a short time while the storm comes through. Check in on your neighbors, especially the elderly. Stay inside and stay warm.
Despite everything going on, try to have a good weekend!
