Mood Update

Thursday, February 07, 2013

Slightly better today than yesterday. Dad and I went out to lunch and I went over calories for the day by lunch! We both had a margarita at lunch per his and my mom's traditional Mexican lunch. We laughed and talked. He took me to get Valentines for my husband and I was able to find a really cute one from the dog! Dad talked about buying Valentines for mom. He gave me a bag of rosaries that belonged to her. I am going to choose a couple to keep for me and I plan to give 1 each to her 2 best friends who she "grouped" with weekly when she could and then only when she could after that. In fact, they took me out to dinner tonight. I didn't give them the rosaries yet because they are all so lovely and I don't know which ones I want. I also want to save one for their honary granddaughter's first holy communion next year which Dad thought was a good idea. I also want to send one to a very special Spark friend who keeps the faith as my mom did and prays for me daily. Yep, my mom was somewhat of a rosary hoarder I think! I think one of them is my Grandma's and I'll probably keep that one and also keep the set (are they a set?) I bought her when I was in Ireland. She also had this really cool (?) set of glow in the dark rosaries that I will probably keep. My mom, always had a bit of fun in her!

I cried a few times today, but I'm OK. Just really tired right now.

Tomorrow I am being interviewed by a local magazine in regards to me being blind and working out at Curves. They say I am an inspiration to women who go to Curves. Not sure why. Nothing is wrong with my bod, only my eyes. No reason I can't workout in a circuit. Anywhere in fact, but whatever. If I inspire people to work out, then more power to me! I hope I don't end up sounding like some kind of fool in the interview! I hope the pics are OK too and I hope I can promotie our local Curves in our community. My mom would be so proud.

So, need some sleep to prevent dark circles from showing up in my pics! Thank you all so very much! I plan to get in touch with each of you personally who responded yesterday, but no time tonight! Spark People has been such a blessing in my life. My mom is smiling knowing how each of you makes me feel better and holds me in your virtual arms and lets me cry! Thank you.

I love that your mom had a collection of rosaries. Auggie's dog-sitter has a collection and anytime we travel we pick up one for her. It has become something we look forward to doing, and I wish I myself had a collection.
How cool that you were interviewed for your involvement with Curves - you Slim Groovy Princess! They obviously recognized that you are a force to be reckoned with!

You are an inspiration to us, even though we haven't "met" you. You're a rockstar! I think it's great that you're being profiled in a local magazine.

Your plan for your mom's rosaries sounds perfect!

I think your tears are cleansing.

Hugs,
Cyndie

I laughed when you said you found a valentine from the dog - too funny. Some of those are the best though. I don't know if you could call me a rosary hoarder, but I do have several - including a glow in the dark rosary I got in second grade (or thereabouts) I still remember taking it to school for show and tell and I took a few kids at a time into the closet to show them the glowing rosary. (Catholic school!) I was so proud of that rosary. I have others that I use - one stays in the car, one by my bed, others in the drawer.

How wonderful! I'm so glad you are feeling a bit better and even with letting the tears shed.

Sounds like you had a great time with your dad. My mom was the same way with rosaries! It is a beautiful thing you are doing by sharing them with the important people in her life. Lovely.

I think it is awesome that they are interviewing you for Curves. You are an amazing woman and now more people will get to know what a superstar they have in their mist. We, here at Spark, have known for a while!

Take your time. There's no rush to pass your mums rosaries on, wait till you have firm favourites. Nice that you enjoyed yourself so much with your dad, and that you get such support from each other. I think the media classify the blind as 'disabled' like you've only got one leg!! In the UK, since watching the disabled people in the paralymic games, when quite honestly a lot of them were fitter, faster and less disabled than a lot of the able bodied couch potatoes watching them, attitudes are beginning to change. More power to your elbow, I hope your photoshoot goes well.
