I crawled out of bed bright and early this morning. I think I was halfway to the park before I was completely awake, but I made it. The Buddy and I walked 32 minutes. It was lovely. It was crisp, but not bitter cold, and the morning was turning out to be very nice. We chatted about all the things we had missed in the last few weeks, and the time flew by.

Then? Yes, then. Then I drove home, and stepped out and thought... "Hmm... ouch?" I was a little disconcerted, but I decided not to worry about it. I came in, had breakfast, and lounged on the couch for about half an hour. I stood and it was like a knife going up through the arch of my foot. My foot was PISSED.

So... I'm sidelined again. I ordered another pair of shoes that say they have a cushioned insole that can be removed, and they accommodate orthotics. So hopefully those will work a little better. I'm shipping the other pair back.

But I'm gonna look at the bright side -- I got out, got some air, and got to see The Buddy. The rest I will find a way to deal with.

    I had a problem with what I think was plantar fasciitis last year. It hurt so bad to walk when I would get up in the mornings. My hips down into my buttocks and my lower back would would kill me if I did something as simple as grocery shop. Best thing I did was get a pair of Klogs brand clogs.

    I hope your feet feel better soon! At least you got some fresh air today. I didn't walk today but I probably will tomorrow.

    Have you thought about trying something that also takes the pressure off of your foot for awhile, at least until it heals up completely or you lose a little more weight? I tried a 5K running plan, but had to bail at about the 5-6 week mark because my knee couldn't handle it (old high school sports injury). I've switched to biking and eventually swimming to get a little more weight off and build up the muscle in my knee. I'll eventually have to do the 5K training for the triathlon, but that's the last thing I'm planning to do. I think for every pound you lose, it takes like 4 pounds of pressure off your joints and feet.

    You could try a pedal exerciser if an exercise bike is too expensive of an option.

    Hopefully you can figure something out so your foot stops giving you trouble! I hurt myself a little back in November from overexercising and it was hard to get motivated to start back up again!

    I'm so proud of you for doing it anyway. Even more proud of you for recognizing the problem and starting on a solution. It would be so easy to give up and instead you took action to fix the shoe situation and try again. That. Is. Awesome.
