Desperately Seeking a hormone overhaul

Thursday, February 07, 2013

So, i've come to the unofficial conclusion that my hormones hate me.
And that I need to work at stabilizing their anarchist behavior.
It is wrecking my weight loss attempts.

Some suggestions I've read about:

1. reduce use of plastic in the home.
2. eat whole foods
3. exercise
4. sleep well
5. eat organic as much as possible
6. stay away from packaged/processed foods
7. homeopathic medicine shows promise
8. eliminate caffeine, drink herbal teas instead
9. reduce stress
10. increase dark leafy greens

There's more but I'm still researching.
Any input or expertise from books or articles you've read? Please comment and reference below.

Much love,

Good luck with this! I am dealing with hormonal imbalances as well, so I will use these suggestions too! You always make posts that relate directly to what I am facing/thinking/need to hear at the time. Thank you for that!

I have problems with thyroid and progesterone. I have a nutritional therapist now who helps me with both my food sensitivities and my hormones. You may want to find someone like her since each of us are individuals. I posted about how she has helped me and her website address on the "Leaky Gut" syndrome team forum a few minutes ago.

I used to use Armour Thyroid, which can be a good bio-identical product, but now I just support my own thyroid with Iodine and Tyrosine by Thorne Pharmaceuticals.

I used to get a compounded progesterone product from the doctor/pharmacy, but now I use a plant based product called ProgonB. Everyone's hormones need individual diagnosing, so make sure you find someone who treats you as an individual. Good Luck!

i don't know which hormones you're dealing with, but soy can mess with estrogen.

All of these suggstions sound great!
My Chiropractor's office does hormone testing through saliva. It has to be done during a certain time in your cycle. I haven't done it yet, but I think it sounds interesting, and possibly good holistic information to go along with what your MD tells you.

wow that is interesting stuff. My hormones and their hatred of me goes back to when I first got my period in high school (yes, high school...I was a late bloomer)

and the only thing that helped me with them when they got HORRIBLE was anti-depressants for a short stint,

so this list is great!
