I had myself a major fun time in the kitchen today.
I went through to make the dinner - my menu plan told me Tuna Pasta Bake. I wasn't too sure about it for tonight.
So I started with the carbs - baby potatoes, to par-boil and fry.
Then: Onions and Garlic - 3 big onions roughly chopped, and into a hot pan with a couple of tsps olive oil. And I just let that pan simmer on as low a heat as possible. A very wee bit of seasoning - a skoosh of maggi. A lid on top - vented to start with, then closed to keep the steam in. I reckon those onions must have had somewhere between 45 and 60 minutes gentle cooking - talk about sticky!
Brussel Sprouts on the tree - half a tree needing used up, so I trimmed etc and quartered the sprouts and into a pan with some special herb oil with orange that is beginning to need me to start using it. Half a largish orange bell pepper, diced into slices about the same length as the 1/4'ed sprouts. And a small amount of dried sage. Also one skliff of fresh lemon rind.
Fresh broccoli, needing used, cooked in the m'wave.
Then I eventually took some dods of venison from the left-over casserole in the fridge, from a few days ago. I put the venison into the left-overs from last night's creamy veg and added a tiny glug more cream.
My son mouth-watered his dinner! He really enjoyed it.
I've had all the veg and stuff, and it was, all, very tasty.
Tomorrow - tuna pasta (or something)!
