For a good while, I have been positive that there is a mouse in our mattress! I can feel something moving in there, and something chewed a couple of big holes in the fitted sheet when I taped over a hole in the mattress wall from a spring breaking and poking out. I gripe about it every night because I have worried one would get on me, and several times I think it did. Now my husband thinks I've finally gone over the edge because he doesn't hear them or see signs of them. I don't know what he thinks made the holes in the sheet. All I know is that there is something in there and it's keeping me awake all hours of the night.
So after putting out trap after trap, I asked my husband to flip the mattress so that the hole would be on his side and he could enjoy the equivalent of a shiatsu massage as this mouse tunnels through the springs, etc. Well, I went up to see if it was done, and he put the side of the mattress at the head of the bed, so when I sat on the side, I nearly fell off. Mattress sides are usually built up so people can sit on the side of the bed comfortably. He didn't give me a solid reason for putting the hole side to the wall, but I think he was afraid that the mice would have a big party on his left hip during the night. He wanted to hedge his bets just in case one or more mice were in there.
Now that there is no access to the hole in the mattress, the mouse motel has closed--at least I hope it has. We think a mouse or two got in when our bathroom shower was being repaired. I heard a lot of noise in there and I think it was something rappelling down the glass shower door. That exit is now closed, so the mouse has to find new accommodations. I wish it would take a long vacation from our bedroom. I've always said that Hallmark and Disney are the only ones who think mice are cute.
