Do You Love Me NOW?

DO YOU LOVE ME NOW?

DO YOU LOVE ME NOW?

DO YOU LOVE ME NOW?

DO YOU LOVE ME NOW?

It doesn't matter what shape your body is in, fat or trim, young or old. We should all love our bodies NOW! Not when we've lost 50 pounds, or not until we've gained 10, or gotten more toned -- or whatever your gripe is! But NOW, right this minute! You see, up at the top of your body sits an object called a head. Inside the head is a brain. Now the brain is a tricky thing. It has emotions, feelings, and it can be hard to live with. Harder yet to live without. And if you keep telling your body that you HATE it -- eventually that brain is going to get tired of the whole scenario. It's going to drive you crazy! Disgust! Temptation! Urges! Revolt!

On the other hand, your body is a beautiful, well-calibrated machine, capable of impossible tasks. Treat it well, praise it, tend it, and the response you get will astound you! Forget the comment "Does my butt look fat in these pants?" Think positive. That gorgeous blue sweater you just bought brings out the blue in your eyes -- and it emphasises the fact that you have a very nice bustline.

And when you go shopping for new clothing, don't automatically pick up a smaller size than you know you wear. Not being able to get a pair of pants fastened is depressing! Much better to take in the same old size 14 or 16 and find they are too loose -- and have to go back out for a smaller size! Motivating!!

A little trick I've devised to help motivate me is to wear fairly large clothing around the house while doing housework, working on the computer, or even taking my daily walk. Then when hubby invites me to go out to dinner, I change into something that fits perfect -- it shows off the progress I've made. It's times like that I TRULY LOVE MY BODY!

You know what they always say, "You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar."

This is a timely piece...I often find myself in a love/hate relationship with my body....I'm in one right now. I' love me when I'm dressed....even if it's in baggy work out/cleaning sweats and sweaters....but, sans clothing...oh boy, that is not a good time for me....I can't quite get past the fact that I no longer have that long, lean dancer's body..... my intelligent brain transmits all important data, that tells me it's a normal progression, and it's OK, but the vanity laden brain refuses to capitulate! So the battle rages, and I just get dressed and say "So there!" and I'm in love again! (Think I need a shrink?) emoticon emoticon emoticon

I've always loved my butt and have never asked anyone if it looks big. emoticon When someone has said your butt looks big, I've always taken it as a compliment. It's all about prespective.

Very true. I don't like my body as it is now, but it is amazing in it's capacity to cope with everything that life throws at it. Maybe focussing on my slim ankles and slimmer face will help - the rest will follow! emoticon
